Well today's been a big day for me all round, but tomorrow is gonna be HUGE.
Right at this very minute at the end of a VERY long day I currently have breast cancer - BUT - in just over twelve hours, I won't - that = a HUGE win
Yup, tomorrow morning (for me) is my big day for a partial mastectomy and in all honesty I am so shit scared it a'int funny, but I am still thanking the universe for making my doctor 'bully' me into going for a mammogram just seven weeks ago. I've only ever had one before around ten years, or so, ago and have been given forms to have others done at regular intervals over the years - which due to life circumstances, I ignored or was always to busy to do.
But, this time THEY made the appointment - and for once I went.
I guess, what I'm trying to say here is a message to all the wonderful women on this board. Please, please, pretty please - if you are anything like me and *coughs* prone to procrastination, fear, too busy - then think twice and make the effort.
Because I got 'bullied' (lol) into going, I feel blessed right now that tomorrow could be a whole lot worse - it's been caught earlyish.
I know it may not be easy financially for many in the US as your health system (or lack thereof) is expensive. Once again I am blessed here in NZ as we have a public, welfare system (which many bitch about) but the whole process that I have been going through from initial mammogram, consultations with experts, radiology (today), pre-surgical assessment, surgery and follow up care and treatment is totally free. Hellz, all the surgeons operating tomorrow are from the private sector and do their turns in the public sector. So I'm still getting the best ;D
Didn't mean to rant, but just wanted to maybe plant a kernel, a seed in any of you beautiful ladies out there who have been putting such a simple thing off. DO IT! - K!
Right - on to betterer things. I'm only in hospital overnight and will come home sore, tired and out of action for a few days. I've got DVD's in, snacks, liquids, snacks, supplies, food and did I mention snacks. I've cleaned the house (well downstairs anyways 8-)), I've got my iPods, Adam music , Angry Birds : and above all I will have my laptop and *genuflects* the internet and my beloved Adamland to play in (between dozes that is).
Take care of our beloved Glittery Prince whilst I'm away - all 36 hours of it
I don't know what's worse - surgery or withdrawal symptoms from the fandom.
*BSC cray, cray signing out for now* *blows kisses to all*
Oh and vote on the frigging Q102 poll for me will ya - cheers.
Hugs to you Catzmadam, my thoughts will be with you tomorrow......
And yay to BSC
