I think they are going to start dropping really fast!! Once these big songs get to a certain point, like 30, they drop like lead balloons!! Ariana's drop is slowing, from -2367 last week to -929 this week. With GT's current bullet it will be lucky if it cracks 2000 spins next week. Carly Rae is at 2509, Brittany at 2880 and Ariana at 3146. Carly Rae is just starting to drop so I doubt that one will go fast enough, Brit might drop fast enough but I think Ariana is out of reach. Plus FOB will probably pass him. Of course I'm hoping for the best but realistically it looks like +3 for the week in CHR. Now if GT's bullet doubles or something then we can talk. LOL I am in the school of if he breaks into the 20's in any way on CHR, it is a big win for the album release. Sure 25 sounds great but 29, 28, 27 - all sound great compared to 30 something. I think this is the "little train that can". GT is doing its job and strutting its stuff and still moving up at album release. Steady and inexorable. Awesome! |

Some discussion at Pulse that I thought was worth brining over.
Here's how it works. Mediabase's present recurrent rules state that songs are removed after 20 weeks in the top 40 and if below the top 10. An additional rule stipulates that a song needs to see two consecutive weeks of spin loss before it's removed. This rule usually comes into play when a song still has a bullet after 20 weeks (as was the case, most recently, with "Riptide"). The last rule affects only songs that have dropped out of the top 40, with less than 20 weeks in, and have seen two consecutive weeks of spin loss. These songs are subject to being "purged".
