Did we ever determine that the Indigo Girls were more than just a rumor from Steve Gray?
They were a big part of my college experience, best known for "closer to fine"
I did stay away from the After Elton polls previously for all the mentioned reasons, which are good (and I'm def. not in favor of creating fake male names anywhere to post under, here or on twitter, it seems dishonest IMHO).
I think part of the reason they might have thrown the poll open this year may because spamming isn't allowed, it's only one vote per write-in per person. Allowing you to nominate 10 encourages people to take a close look at all the possibilities and get to know gay male celebs better. It might also have to do with the success of several celebs with broad audiences, I'm thinking Adam here, but also the Gleeks and Torchwood fans. They also nominate straight men quite often (I think Jake Gyllenhaal has been a favorite). I follow AE on twitter and read articles on various topics fairly often, so it felt OK this time to me.
But yeah, "sexy" can be someone who has done something politically notable or brave or to help the community, not just eye-candy, and improving the diversity of the nominees is great (hmm.... I have some other nominee ideas now, maybe I'll vote again with a slightly different list as only the last list gets counted.)

The Indigo Girls have always been kind of "folkish" to me, which would make for an interesting collab with GNAFL. They've done a lot of activism stuff in the past. I mostly remember them from this song in the Philadelphia movie. Uhhh. Sorry, don't like it at all. Hooray for their activism but their music? Not for me. And it doesn't sound very Adamy to me either. But I'm not angsting this early!! ;D We don't even know if that rumor is true. And there's still Max Martin. And weren't we hoping for Mark Ronson? I have complete faith in Adam to have a killer album no matter who he works with.

The Indigo Girls are folk rock legends with a cult following. They have been around since the mid 80's and fight for the rights of many including the LGBT. I think it is important to remember that every song written will not make the album and every song that makes it will not be a single. Some will be there because Adam loves them and wants to share them and/or they fit with his vision. He will push the envelope. He will try new things. He will do the unexpected. I don't want him to sing the same song twelve times. I don't think that's what he wants either. Masterpieces can be created with any one or more of these pairings. I can't wait. Great info, thanks! I agree, I want versatility and thanks to Adam all these collabos we've heard of will quarantee that. I trust Adam's artistic vision. I know I will love it, no matter what. Not that I mind listening to the same tracks over and over again (FYE studio, FS live, Gridlock, GNT Live, Adam Acoustic....) LOL. I will survive if the next single only comes around September, but what about Moscow and Quebec shows? I would imagine Adam himself would want to try out something new... cross my fingers for new material (live versions of PUU, CLYG, LS, MP?). So happy for anyone who are able to attend.

Catzmadam YOU'RE BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!! Oh I'm so happy!!!!I even talked to Adam and he agreed to spend some time with you, he also has Sauli's permission. So here he is lying by the bed to keep you company.
OMG gelly, I almost had a heart attack when I scrolled down to that photo. I swear his eyes almost opened and my heart stopped. Catz, move over because there has got to be enough room in that bed for both of us. I can wait until ya'll have had a bit of a chat and cuddle. That had better be one MOFO huge bed..think the two of yous is gonna sneak in with BB alone??? HMMM????
