Chokehold is pretty generic imo. Underground I love, always wanted Adam to rnb with pop sensisiblities. But its great album so great everyone has their own favs. "Variety is the spice of life" as they say. I feel the lyrics of 'Chokehold' were very honest and unlike what I'd heard before. Conjured up images I'd experienced but never imagined others had, as well. Spoke to me. What music is meant to do - I don't understand music 'genres' . . . I find what finds my heart. I also don't see the need for genres. We all like or appreciate different things - but there are so many things that cross or don't fit into one or specific genres. What I have found with Adams catalog is that there may have been a song he has that I didn't care for or didn't "speak to me" when I first heard it - but I can go back later - maybe even a year or more and something in that song can grab or resonate with me at that place in time. |
