Yes, we knew they were on competing morning programs today. Watching/listening to the two performances I am struck by how very different the two are, despite both being male pop singers with very catchy tunes. Nate has this hyper, high strung, boyish delivery style, whereas Adam is slinky, seductive, simmering and mature. Nate's look is like a slightly scruffy, adolescent kid down the block. Adam looks like a New York runway fashion model. And then there are the two voices. Nate has this piercing, astringent straight tone that attacks the notes with enthusiasm and percussive, blunt force. Adam's voice is creamy, rich, smooth, and velvety. It almost never sounds forced or strained. They both have their ardent, passionate fans, and I hope they are both very successful with their new releases. Yes, Adam and Nate are polar opposites in so many ways. Both have big voices, but there it stops. Adam once said in an interview about getting a hit song that "it's not about the voice." He knows that the "best" voice isn't always the biggest seller. It doesn't work that way. Nate is fine and his fans love him. He will likely outsell Adam. Nate built up a good fan base with fun. But talent, charisma and voice? No comparison. Adam wins hands down. Love your description of Adam as slinky and seductive and simmering and mature. He has some young fans, but he definitely for grown-ups. I think Adam was born Rated R, in a good way. J/S!  |
