Entertainment Focus @ent_Focus 5 stars for @adamlambert The Original High. Read our full review now goo.gl/i6d1lC #AdamLambert twitter.com/Ent_Focus/status/612256632278528000Posted on June 20, 2015 By Pip Ellwood Excerpt: One of the things you notice instantly is that The Original High is Lambert’s most cohesive album to date. By working with Max Martin and Shellback, he’s crafted a collection of songs most of which he’s credited as co-writer on. For the most part The Original High mixes up dance rhythms harking back to the 90s and moving Lambert away from the glam-rock/pop sound he sported on his first two records. It’s a sound that works for him and the title track is one of the most euphoric and catchy moments on the record as Lambert employs his falsetto to drive you to the chorus beats. The Original High isn’t restricted purely to dance pop though. Underground hints at a darker R&B sound – something we hope he continues to explore as he sounds great on the track – and There I Said It is a heartfelt ballad that really showcases Lambert’s ability as a vocalist. Album standout Rumors with Tove Lo merges electro-pop with sensual R&B once again showcasing a new sound for the singer. Elsewhere on the record Lambert embraces his rock roots on the storming Lucy featuring Brian May, gives more than a passing nod to the 80s on Another Lonely Night, and offers up a late-night club jam on The Light. The album comes to a close with the beat-driven Heavy Fire bringing things to a satisfactory end. - See more at: www.entertainment-focus.com/music-review/adam-lambert-the-original-high-album-review/?utm_campaign=twitter&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitter#sthash.QZtHYW5P.dpuf

It always makes me give a hearty eye roll to the reviewers who are looking for what they consider "meaningful lyrics" in Adam's music. It is POP! Adam's music has more meaningful lyrics than most music out there. Some can't acknowledge he's presenting a unique viewpoint--club/theater kid from the 90's--because they don't know about it or don't perceive it as unique. Reviewers who think that Adam's music can't be "real" because he doesn't flaunt his angst through some addictive activity. Why is music more valuable when it comes through a damaged personality? I have been thinking that Adam has so many pre-conceived expectations overlaid over his monstrous talent: 1. People that want glam rock from Idol. 2. People who want to get the original high from Mad World days. 3. People who are cynical and can't believe that Adam is more complex than ___(insert word of choice here) just gay; just happy, hippy, trippy; theatrical; nice guy; vacuous pop star, etc. 4. People who want him to be a particular kind of gay/politicized voice. 5. People who want him to be just a fashion icon/spokesperson. Probably I'm over-thinking it. Eta: Welcome to our new contributors who are posting; today it is sawaswati!

Qanh Musicz @qanhmusicz@adamlambert latest album "The Original High" vocal range video is here!!! ht tps://youtu.be/bftgcTrL36Y #AdamLambert #TheOriginalHigh #VocalRange I think cassie will like this Thanks. Interesting. Of course, I automatically do that as I listen to anything Adam does, when he gets to the edges of his range, but I enjoy seeing what others hear, too. I agree with most of this. Except that falsetto is not a "register." Am I being picky here? And a couple of the phrases s/he identified as falsetto I hear as head voice. Different technique, tone, and strength. Whatever. It is impressive for pop music.

Hello everyone! Thanks so much for this wonderful forum! I so appreciate everyone's generosity, kindness, humor and insight! I am definitely known for being a huge Adam fan-I share his music at every opportunity just because I feel it's so wonderful. His story is so amazing- it really seems to have mythological dimensions-what a great graphic novel it would make! I wanted to share with you my experience at GMA, which was my first time seeing Adam live. The whole experience had the feeling of adventure-from getting up at 3:00am, to being very lucky with the subway being at the station when I arrived so that I was on line at 4:30. Being at Central Park at that hour with all the sights and smells was just like camping which I love. It was great being surrounded by so many Adam fans. When Adam took the stage it was one of the most gorgeous sights I've ever beheld! We were so lucky that we got to see the sound check which was really interesting because we could see the process he goes through to adjust the sound. The show itself was fabulous-Adam was so dynamic, graceful and sexy. I definitely think "The Original High" has the potential to be a huge hit. The band was great and the audience was wildly enthusiastic. I can't wait to see him on tour. There was nothing much happening on the off air parts as far as Adam is concerned because he was usually offstage during those times. When I listened to the TOH album for the first time hearing all the songs in a row as they were laid out I was very struck by the cohesiveness and flow of the album as a unity. Saraswati.

Welcome from me also, Saraswati. My favourite part of this forum are recaps like yours as it's like experiencing the excitement second hand. I hope to be posting a recap of my own one of these days. Looking forward to Q3's write-up later today. A question. That secret show the other night where we saw Instagram pictures of fans queueing but they weren't allowed to film inside - didn't someone say that there would be an official video of the show released later on? Have I missed it or are we still waiting? That was the FRESH radio channel mini concert and they said they would post video, but I haven't seen it posted. We got very little from the concert part other than a few still pics. Would love to see his performances of those 4 songs. Welcome Saraswati !
