Slooow day, so it's a good time to post this. I've been listening to Sondheim's "Sunday in the Park with George" because I'll be playing in the pit for a production soon. The song "Putting it Together" just reminded me of all our speculation about Adam's #2. Here is a YT of Barbra Streisand's version (slightly altered lyrics) and a link to the printed lyrics. The story is about artist Georges Seura, and in this song he struggles with how to balance his artistic vision with something that he can get financing for and that will sell. Sound familiar? Excerpt: "Art isn't easy, Overnight you're a trend, you're the right combination, Then the trend's at an end, You're suddenly last year's sensation!
All they ever want is repetition, All they really like is what they know. You gotta keep a link with your tradition Got to learn to trust your intuition, While you reestablish your position So that you can be on exhibit... So that your work can be on exhibition!!!" Complete lyrics (Babs version, not original): www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/b/barbra_streisand/putting_it_together.htmll

via @365gay Horrifying Don't Ask bill passes House committee logo.to/j8PU2x #gaynews Made me think about Adam and Sauli situation: pr.thinkprogress.org/2011/05/pr20110510/ add this to the scary stuff. Before the uber right gets done taking us back to the stone age I hope the general population wakes up before then. The things that are going on are truly scary. Not just about LGBT rights but religious and big business control of the government. Pretty soon there will be no more separation of church and state left either. I will stop now, end of rant!

This was one of my favorite songs when I was a kid. My dad bought the record (yep, vinyl), but I snitched it. Played it ALL THE TIME. [grin] Can't remember anything else I played but this one song tho'! ETA: Oh yeah, there was a space-y version of "Someday" that was also pretty cool.
