I still have a print-out of some pages from his blog that were deleted when Neil found that the public discovered it. Let's just say there was a whopping argument between family members on what went down on Thanksgiving day. I remember that his blog during Idol was good I always wondered if Idol people finally found out he was blogging about idol and made him stop. I remember towards the end around late April the comments ended. The last time he commented was at the AI concert in NJ and he was not very nice to some of them. Won't name names. He said he is building a new blog but I guess he is having to much fun and has no time. He is such a good writer wonder how is can not write for a whole year. He has alot of followers if he wrote someone might notice and give him a job. I enjoyed his sense of humor in his blog. I guess I've always liked that kind of humor.

I am home sick today and watched JD on Regis. Sometimes he hit his notes well, but at other times, he really didn't...especially towards the end of the song. Most of us think of the term "pitchy" ( and thus "having pitch problems") as meaning that the notes in the songs we hear performed aren't always hit perfectly, whether or not the person can hear in his own head where the note is supposed to go, or whether or not he mainly goes there, or whether or not he sometimes can't go there due to breathing or control or technique. I am more aware of the "whys" after your post, but in any case, for lay people like me, for a singer to avoid being labeled "pitchy," the voice still needs to hit those notes consistently. One thing that amazed me watching Adam on AI during his season was how consistently he was able to do that. Combine that with his incredibly heart-felt interpretations, his charisma, his graciousness to other musicians, his humility and his articulate interviews, and you have the beginning of the force that sent me way down the rabbit hole. And he only got better from there. I am so excited to see what he comes up with for Adam 2, for all the promotional interviews and appearances he will make, and to see him sing live again Lynne: You have pinpointed one of the reasons Adam sounds so good live, and, my guess, why he made so many singing appearances on radio and TV during promotions. His ear and his technique are both so well trained that he almost always hits the pitch right in the center. He is very consistent. It's one of the things you don't notice when it is done right, but you notice very quickly when it is done wrong (if you have a good ear for pitch). Adam and his promoters trust his ability to sing well, no matter what. One example of a pitch bobble for Adam is at the end of the Season 8 top 8 week performance of Mad World. The last note starts a bit sharp, but he immediately pulls it back on target. What happened there? Nerves? Aware that the show was running late? Who knows. It was not how he meant to end the song. He has never gone for that ending again, and in an interview where they played it back he laughed and said he mistakenly sang the harmony line rather than the melody he planned. In the hundreds of concert videos I will occasionally hear him slightly off pitch for an instant, but it is very rare. His voice is that well trained. Remember the concert where he walked off stage while singing Strut? He said he had to cough, but, actually, he could not hear his own voice with or without the ear monitors. How do I know? Cuz he was totally off key, and couldn't get back on again, despite several attempts. Having a tickle in your throat doesn't do that, but when the music is so loud you cannot hear yourself talk or sing, you CANNOT sing on pitch. I hope that YT has been pulled and the original video destroyed.

Cassie this question is for you. I too get bummed at the JD comparisons and ther is a post on the AI official forum called "James does not have a pitch problem" by some voice expert and I was wondering what you thought. myidol.americanidol.com/go/thread/view/86789/27579881/James_Does_Not_Have__Pitch_ProblemIf you have time to explain in the Masterclass thread if that is more appropriate, just curious because what I hear just doesn't sound good but you are so good at explaining this stuff. Thanks! More for Cassie if possible; quote from this post: "He is singing full voice- not falsetto up to a soprano high A (end of his duet with Jacob) I do not personally know any other tenors who can do that." A5 or A6? Have I missed DDD picking up JD on their radar?

Grrr... That Billboard voting is a huge pain. Besides the "other", the vote takes you to page 3 so that you can't just reload the page and vote again - have to go back to pg 2 - all this on a slow computer. BLAH. I find it easiest to open several tabs (10 at a time is good for my computer) from a link to second page. I have bookmarked an old thread with gelly's message with a link. Here's the link, if you like to try voting "my way". www.billboard.com/features/Billboard-Music-Awards-Fan-Favorite-Award-1005174942.story?page=3#/../../features/billboard-music-awards-fan-favorite-award-1005174942.story?page=2I just middle click the link ten times, my browser settings are so, that it opens the pages to new tabs. Then I just copy-paste Adam Lambert and submit, click next tab, copy-paste etc. After voting ten times, I just close the tabs (page 3). And start again. This is a quite quick way to vote.
