That article doesn't give a source for those numbers. Since I haven't seen any published numbers yet for Adam, they probably didn't have any to use. They also HAVE to be career totals since Clay certainly hasn't had millions in concert revenue anytime recently. It looks like they mostly based it off number of albums sold, which given today's climate is going to make it hard for anyone new to get onto this list....

The media only talks about U.S. sales

Kelly is still the most successful Idol overall with 20 million albums sold world wide and lord knows how many more digital singles and she's toured the world several times.

Pickler is Kellie Pickler from Season 5. She's a country artist...BFF with Taylor Swift.

That list looks old, except for the new Carrie information.
