In Rio, Queen says Adam Lambert and Freddie Mercury have 'similarities'
Singer, Brian May and Roger Taylor gave interview and waved to fans.
"The two have a spectacular voice ', compared guitarist of the English group.
Singer Adam Lambert and the members of the band Queen, Brian May (guitar) and Roger Taylor (drums), talked with reporters to talk about the show that will be the first day of Rock in Rio. On the morning of Thursday (10) they stated that the expectation is too great to perform at the event 30 years after the historic concert in 1985.
Asked about a possible comparison between the band's lead singer, Freddie Mercury, and Lambert, May said that Adam is playing the role on vocals very well. According to him, Mercury and Lambert are different but "have some similarities."
"Adam has a new spirit, a new energy that's good. The two have a connection to the very good public have a spectacular voice, they are different and both are very good," May said. "Adam does not want to replace Freddie, each has its characteristic, "added Taylor.
The singer said to go on stage feels the presence of the former lead singer of Queen. "I think it's important to have this Freddie, he's with me in every song on stage. Being next to them is also very important, are unique. It's very exciting to be there on stage and we'll break," Lambert said.
Party on stage (and off)
Adam Lambert said he is excited about his first visit to Brazil. According to the singer, he plans to leave Rio. "I'm going out on the town for sure. Do not know what I'll do, but I will leave the best party on the stage. I'm excited to be here in the city. It is the first time I come to Rio, "he said.
In an interview with G1, Lambert said that sometimes there is the Queen fans who "fill his balls" during the shows. "Sometimes, like two or three people trying to disrupt. But there the fourth song, they are dancing. It's been a challenge," he said.

A few more pictures marked the 30th anniversary of the Rock in Rio than Freddie Mercury shouting "Love Of My Life" with Queen for the thousands of people who packed the Rock City in the first edition of the festival. Now, in 2015, the britância band returns to the event, this time bringing the young Adam Lambert on vocals.
Although the project which brought together former American Idol with the remaining members of Queen, Brian May and Roger Taylor have started in 2011, the trio knows the responsibility that performance at the Rock In Rio on September 18 is. "The risk is always high, but I think I'm ready for the challenge," said Lambert, who come to Brazil for the first time. "Doing those shows in 1985 was a milestone in our career. I believe this show will also be so," adds Brian May.

The pressure to take the Queen's voice does not seem to bother Lambert, who promises that fans heard the original versions of classics of the band. "Freddie is always on stage with us in one form or another. This is where I think when I'm cantanto those songs," explains Adam, who was only three years when the Queen toured Brazil. "Adam gives us a new energy. The Queen is still a living entity, "says Roger Taylor. "In some ways, I think today we played better than 30 years ago," added May. "The Freddie agree with us." Despite the Queen of the show only happen in a week, the band decided to arrive early at the Rio de Janeiro to "acclimate" and prepare a new version of the show for the Rock in Rio. "We rehearse a lot because we have not played together six months ago," explains guitarist Brian May, who only has good memories of the 85's show "We a lot of joy this time. "For the first time in Brazil, Adam wants to use the time before the festival to have fun. "Bring the tequila!" Laughs the singer. "I want to go to parties before, but I assure you the biggest party will be on stage." Bring on the 18th, then.

Queen is part of the history of Rock in Rio. In the first edition of the festival in 1985, the band played a historic show with frontman Freddie Mercury. Thirty years later, the group returns to the City of Rock with a touch of nostalgia and without the legendary singer, who died in 1991. To take this mission weight, Brian May and Roger Taylor called Adam Lambert to take the vocals on this trip to Brazil. Queen + Adam Lambert is headlining the first day of the Rock in Rio on Friday, September 18th. In this Thursday, September 10, Adam, May and Taylor received the press to a press conference. "You're going to love this guy," promises Brian May about the new singer. The guitarist took to advance rather than there will be in the show. "We'll have a moment with Freddie. It is very nostalgic and also amazing still be alive and our work still be significant," he said. Roger Taylor adds: ". Let's rehearse something special to Rio I do not know how long we play, it may be the last time."

Rock in Rio: Remind great successes of the Queen and get ready for the festival
Adam is looking forward to his first time in Brazil. "I want out! Take tequila! But we have to rehearse," he laments, jokingly. Brian May takes to remember, fondly, their presentation on the first festival and give a preview for the "newbie" of what to expect from the Brazilian public. "We bump at how the crowd knew all the songs, especially 'Love of my live', which became special. They did an incredible noise and gave us a wonderful energy. We are proud to have been part of it," he says.

Roberta Medina, executive vice president of the festival, recalled that the first time the band at the Rock in Rio over "saving" the shows that night. "They lent the base of light equipment from them and all the bands have used the Queen light grid. It was a kindness and would not have been the same Rock in Rio without it," she says. To return to the festival, May and Taylor expect to see a well-mixed audience. "The younger ones may not know us as individuals, but they know our songs," says Roger. Brian echoes. "Some people saw us in 85 and it will now with their children and grandchildren," waiting the musician, who declares that Adam gave a renewed energy in the 'new' group.

Translation Of The Article via @veroniqueorcel:
While he was in Paris to promote his new album, The Original High, Adam Lambert met Melty. Check out his exclusive interview.
The finalist of the eighth season of American Idol spoke to melty in an exclusive interview for the release of his new album, The Original High. You discovered him with Whataya Want From Me, his first single, the singer is now back with titles subtly mixing rock, which he has always loved, and electro sounds. At 33 years old, Adam grew up in Los Angeles but he was only dreaming of one thing: Broadway. Between his new album, his projects, his tour with the band Queen, the singer also reveals the music he likes, especially Years & Years - that we saw in Rock en Seine (they link here to another Melty article). He also tells us about his appearance in the series Pretty Little Liars ... Discover Adam Lambert’s interview on Melty!
Melty: Hi Adam! So, are you happy to be in Paris?
Adam Lambert, singer: Yes I love Paris! Unfortunately I never stay long.
Compared to Trespassing, in The Original High your last album, we feel a little bit more your rock side emerging, with real instruments, even if you kept a few electro parts. Did you want to go back to something more authentic?
Yes of course! Let's say that I really wanted this album to come from the heart, it's a real story of emotions. So it was important to have organic instruments like a piano, a guitar, which are the basic elements on these songs. The electro side rather allows me to build a mood, an atmosphere, to create space and texture to all of this. And I love this album because the voice is located exactly between those two elements, it’s the main instrument.
You left your label for this new album, why, and what did it change for you?
Ah it was just some creative disagreements. After Trespassing, they wanted me to do a cover album of new wave songs from the 80s. I thought about it and I said "no, I do not want to do that." Because I'm here to make new songs, MY songs. So I said, "Ok, Peace!" and I left.
In this album, you also have a duet with the singer Tove Lo, whom we love. How was it to work with her? Did you know her before?
No, I met her in Sweden while we were recording the album. In fact, I lived in Stockholm for two months to make this album. And she’s one of the first people I was presented there. I fell in love with his song Habits, it's so honest! As I am the same, I think that's why it worked between us. She's so nice, with a great sense of humor, that is easy to work with her. We discussed and she asked often the question of the fame and all the things that it implies, that's how came the song.
Ghost Town is the first single from your last album, The Original High. It was released in April, almost at the same time as Ghosttown (March 13) by Madonna, was it a coincidence? Were you aware of this song release by Madonna?
It was hilarious because we had already chosen the first single in October or November and then we sent the whole to the finale mix. And in December, I look at the tracklist on Itunes of the next Madonna’s album and there I see Ghosttown and I say "Whaaat?" For few seconds, I wondered if I had to change the single and I talked to my team and they told me "the song is so different, it's ok." So I was not very worried. But after, I saw that she had also chosen it as a single and they were released at the same time. It was funny !
In three albums, you had the opportunity to collaborate with Bruno Mars, Max Martin, Pharrell Williams, Dr. Luke, etc. Are there other artists with whom you would dream to collaborate?
I would like to work with Gorgon City or Duke Dumont and many other DJs. About other artists, for sure I would love to sing with Beyoncé. Pink too! She wrote Whataya Want From Me so I already had the chance to sing her songs but I would really like to have the opportunity to sing together because she’s really fantastic.
You were in January with Queen at the Zenith in Paris in front of a full-packed audience, how was it?
It was so cool, there was a great energy! And I think it is because of the shape of the Zenith. We used to play in more traditional venues but we found that the Zenith, his shape, was very special so the energy emanating from it was new for us. I already think I'm lucky because I love the French public, there is a sort of connection because I feel like we understand each other, that we are in phase.
It was only your second date in France, do you plan to come back soon?
Oh yes I would really love to! I haven’t anything planned yet unfortunately. I start my tour in January where I’ll go to Asia, Australia and New Zealand. Now we are trying to go to America, UK and Europe, but there is nothing decided yet.
Besides Queen, who else inspired you to do this job?
Actually, it happened by chapters. When I was a teenager, I listened to a lot of pop music, even a little hip-hop and rap. Moreover many of these artists of the late 90s were produced by Max Martin, it's funny. In my twenties, I loved the rock, then there was a period where I listened to neo soul only. I really work by phase. And now we can say that I listen to everything.
Is there a song or an artist you're listening in loop now?
There are some artists that I adore right now such as the Years & Years album.
There's a question I love asking in interviews: what did you want to do at 15 years old?
When I was 15, I wanted to be an actor in Broadway. In fact, when I was 9, my parents enrolled me in a theater group and I fell in love with musicals and I was doing a lot of them. It was a bit like my first contact with music.
So there is a series that our readers especially love: it’s Pretty Little Liars. You participated in the special Halloween episode of season 2. Tell us how it happened and how were you contacted?
I do not remember how it happened but it was super fun. Everyone told me "It's the Halloween episode! And you can dress up as a vampire! Yeah!" And as I love to dress up it was great. I was able to shoot a scene with Lucy Hale and everyone was very cool. Honestly, it was a great afternoon!
Do you have something to tell your French fans and all meltynautes?
Yes, I want to tell them that I really appreciate that they like my music. I really hope this is just the beginning and we can get to know a little more. I really want to come back more often because I love France and Paris.
So are you fan of Adam Lambert?

QueenOnline On Tour: Notes From The Road - South America Part 1
Riding on a rented red London Double Decker bus, drinking champagne was how I found out, as you do.
"Oh Nick, South America is on. Same deal as before OK?" said Jim Beach
"Sure thing, thanks Jim, I will get in touch with Juliette (Q+AL Tour Director)..."
"Very good." He smiled, turned back to Geoff Kempin of Eagle Rock, and continued to discuss the next couple of Queen DVD/Blu-ray releases.
I was already in a really good mood, but this news just heighten my glee - you know that little nervous / excited skip you get in your tummy? 'Pop', there it was.
Team MPT (Mercury Phoenix Trust) were overseeing a petanque fundraising day in London and Queen MD Spike Edney was with us on the bus, as we made our way through Oxford Street to the post-boule party. I grabbed another bottle of champagne and popped up stairs...
"You're coming? That's great...you better crack that open then!"
So here I am a few days before I leave, half packed and about to pop into town to grab a few last bits for my travels, reflecting on my last tour with the band and looking forward to this one. Once again, I had to put in a pitch for a place on the plane and again it was pretty simple - "South America - This is Queen Country". There was a bit more to it, but not much, however what I did have in my favour was that the feedback I had got from the North American Tour was that I had actually turned out to be pretty useful about the place, which was nice. I was also asked to do the European Tour earlier in 2015, but 6 weeks away from my girls was just too much for me...plus the wife said 'No'.
This entry is just an introduction really, much like the one I did before, and a chance to say hello again and set the scene. There has been plenty of other things to prepare for and get to grips with before the tour; I have been busy on all manner of Queen and MPT business, including a weekend working in Montreux celebrating Freddie's birthday, getting injections, loading up the new Iron Maiden and Motorhead albums, checking the weather in SA, I even got a pedicure! But mainly taking (some) tongue in cheek flak from the wife, as I am
a) missing my eldest daughter's first day at school and
b) missing my other half's 40th birthday.
I'm a selfish prick, I know.
Going back to the NA Tour once more; I have to say it was one of the best things I have ever be part of, I have worked on several one-off live events (The BRITs, 46664 shows), but never a tour and I am glad many of you enjoyed my 'Notes From The Road' - it kind of helped me enjoy it more, relaying what was unfolding in front of me each day. The plan is to do the exact same thing, tell you how I see it. However, if you have any ideas on what you might like me to cover please e-mail me at nickw@outsideline.co.uk - of course, be sensible, I do not have unprecedented access to Brian, Roger or Adam and I am not going to sneak around exposing intimate details or compromise security!
Having received my flight details a few weeks ago, I was then presented with the final main tour itinerary and I am happy to see that over 2/3rds of the crew and touring team is the same as the last time I went out - kind of says something about those at the top really; the good stuff filters down. And yes, of course, Malandrone's name stuck out like an 'entertaining warning sign' - if that makes any sense, if you know Pete, you'll know. I am really looking forward to seeing the guys again, especially my 'Big Sister On The Road' Production Coordinator Jil, that (now) man of 'Darkness', Rufus and our bubbly Bass Department Neil. I might even have some time for Brian, Roger and Adam...
OK, so here we go, let's see what South America has install for us. I am particularly looking forward to Queen's return to Rock In Rio - I can recall the first time I heard of it, Guns N' Roses were finally returning to action with their Use Your Illusion albums in 1991 and with typical audacity picked RIR to take their bow – it has held quite the mystique with me since then. I have also heard how utterly frenzied (in a good way) and keen the Argentineans are, and Chile, well I look forward to meeting you, but thanks for Alexis Sanchez, he has lit up the Premiere League!
Just so you know, I have struck a deal with a Brazilian friend of mine who is going to translate these entries into Portuguese, plus QOL's Wilki in Argentina will deal with the Spanish...although he doesn't know that yet. My attempts would be futile, although a quick Google translate might make these updates more entertaining/even more confusing for you!
Right, back to the packing, the taxi picks me up at 3.30am on Friday (uh)...I'm not complaining really. I can't imagine I will have much more to say until I actually get to Sao Paulo on Saturday to be honest, although last time I did manage to blog on my in-flight movies…belated apologies on that one!
So you can consider yourselves dismissed until then and let me know of anything you might want me to report on.

'American Idol': Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood & Adam Lambert to Lead Parade of Alumni for Last Season?

According to sources, the Fox show will take one last trip down memory lane, saving the A-list bookings for the 2016 grand finale.
In its ratings heyday, American Idol played a key role in building momentum for such artists as Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber by offering prime performance slots during the season. But as the Fox show has eliminated a night-two reveal altogether, guest performances by established acts have also gone by the wayside and, for its 15th run, will barely register.
According to sources, Idol’s final bow will feature only alumni of the show, saving the A-list bookings for the grand finale, scheduled for May 2016. "We will be bringing Idols back in a way that’s organic," says Trish Kinane, president of entertainment programming at FremantleMedia North America and Idol showrunner, stopping short of confirming the plan. "We’re going to be reflecting on the huge successes and amazing moments from the past 14 years." Says another insider: “It is too far out from the season” to speak definitively about guest spots.
Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr., and Keith Urban Brace for 'Idol' Farewell
Certainly returning graduates like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson and Phillip Phillips are bound to draw viewers (Idol’s 14th season averaged a 2.9 rating, or about 11 million viewers, according to Nielsen), but that still leaves weeks of live slots to fill, and not all Idol alums look back fondly on their alma mater. Says one rep of a top 10 finalist: "Unless your name is Adam Lambert, the show’s selective memory has left some non-winners feeling burned."
To hear Kinane tell it, success isn’t always judged by album sales or radio hits. Season five’s Kellie Pickler, for example, won Dancing With the Stars in 2013, and season two’s Clay Aiken ran for Congress in 2014, extending their 15 minutes by years. As for season eight's Lambert, his new single, “Ghost Town,” is gaining momentum at radio.
But even finalists who never made it to the top 12 have done well. Consider Tori Kelly, who’s currently riding a second pop smash at radio -- she was eliminated on season nine, a year after Todrick Hall, now starring in his own MTV show and managed by Scooter Braun, was also given the top 24 boot.
Katharine McPhee, Chris Daughtry, Fantasia Barrino and beyond, they all represent "classic Cinderella stories that are the very heart of Idol," says Kinane, no matter the ratings. "This show has changed lives."
