No way would I have wanted to be in that crowd. Fine line between fervor and mob mentality..don't get me wrong, it was a passionate crowd. I could almost feel the band moving things along to keep in control of the concert at times. JMO. Both Adam and Bri noted that that crowd was 'loco'..in this case, everything turned out fine, but I did get uneasy at times. Just me, maybe. Wouldn't be the first time I didn't read a crowd right..lol.. I am actually quite claustrophobic, but usually solve this by either arriving very early and making sure I am on the front of a crowd, so that I can always get out if I must. Or at the back, where emotions are normally less high and there is more room to dance. The show I was looking at (Chile) did have a VIP section in the standing area, and I was going for that one. Just to be safe. I have been in plenty a mosh pit (often as the only female person), and I always got out bruised. It's unavoidable really. The best trick is to have very sturdy shoes, so you don't fall and to minimize the effect of people jumping on your toes. I even fell in love one time, jumping up and down and bouncing into people at a festival. It lasted the grand total of two weeks, but still, he was really cute. Now kicking and fighting, that's another thing. I would hate to be in a crowd like that with more than a few aggresive people in there. I still wish I was there though.... Claustopia is one thing but the fighting? I would go mental and have never and will never put myself in that crowd. |
