If anyone can get past it Adam can. If it were me, highly doubtful, very hurtful. It would be hard to trust again....so it would never be the same..... I have thought about it too, gelly. Especially the tweets of Monte's that Adam didn't reply too. The one saving grace is that the rant was by Lisa and not Monte. So, that should make it easier to move past it and get on good footing with Monte. The Tommy thing, though, totally confuses me! And I don't think Adam's party should have caused a scheduling conflict. Monte's gig didn't start until 11:00. It shoud have been easy for Tommy to do both things, even if it meant going to the party, leaving for the gig, then back to the party after the gig. ETA: Oops, forgot about the Idol tweets also. There are Monte & two other guitarist/bass players, none of them Tommy. The gig is recorded, can be found at the link I gave this morning. |

I've been thinking about this stuff, too, Gelly, although I think it is sooo easy to read things into tweets and into lack of tweets that aren't there that I wouldn't put much into all that. But what I've been thinking about is Tommy's supposed absence. NOT trying to stir things up--just genuinely curious--but do we think this might be what the whole Lisa-fiasco was about? That Adam had planned a party (Leila's birthday isn't a bad guess, given their relationship, and her relationship with his friends) for the same evening as Monte's first Viper Room gig and invited Tommy, and that this was Tommy's supposed scheduling conflict, and that Monte was slightly peeved about losing Tommy for the night and Lisa took it as an example of Adam acting all superstar with his bigshot party and forgetting his old friend (not that I think that at all, these things happen, double bookings, no biggie, I'm just thinking "out loud"). If so, big fucking whoop, but sounds like that water has passed well under the bridge by now anyway, and Gelly, I'm sure that Monte and Adam will be fine, however choppy it feels for a while. (LOL--just watch, Tommy will have been on base as usual after all, and my "theory" will be way off, no doubt.) Like Monte said, he and Adam have each other's phones. I doubt they'd have what really is a business meeting in 140 character increments. Tommy having a scheduling conflict is unconfirmed as far as I can tell, as is his lack of appearance at the Viper Room. However, it seems highly unlikely that a musician, who works freelance, would pass up a paying gig to go to the birthday party of someone's mom.... even someone as awesome as Adam. I wasn't trying to make any assumptions at all about their relationship, other than stating at the end that I was sure they'd get over whatever happened. I also made sure to say at the start that I don't think we can read anything into the tweets. I was just wildly speculating about what the specific brouhaha was about in this case, as it seemed from Lisa's tweets that it was at least connected in some way to this Viper room gig. Everything else I typed above was total idle speculation and curiosity, which I readily admit--complete guess-work out of curiosity which wasn't meant to be anything like a solid argument or theory. Just patching together patchy info. And again, nothing about Adam and Monte's relationship at all. Which, as you said, has a long history, and is totally unknowable to us anyway. My little joke at the end about Tommy's probably playing the gig after all was meant to undercut everything that came above and to show I recognize what silly and idle speculation it was--I guess that didn't come off (and by the way, I was mainly having fun, not laying blame). And I should know better anyway--a joking idle series of guesses can become "iron clad truth" on the internet in seconds. So I won't delete, but I'll go back and add a more obvious disclaimer if it makes you feel better. Still, I think this site is a place for imagining things--I mean, our whole relationship to Adam is based mainly on fantasy, music aside--we think we have a sense of him as a person but of course we don't know him at all. I think of this as a space where we all indulge in our sillier side (at least, it is certainly the space in my life where I am my most absurd--I am NOT this obsessive in RL, honest). I think everything we write kinda comes with an implied (*crazyperson) asteriks! |

In that interview with Monte's band they talked about how difficult it was to schedule for them because all of them have other stuff going on. Until proven otherwise, I think it is best to go with the simplest explanation. Well, that's just my 2 cents.
