midwifespal, @q3, theosgma and others interested in that earlier 'gaydar' discussion.... Thanks for all your feedback. Adam's comments about diversity in 2009 made me listen up too. Made me aware, that there was more than just music and a unique voice, that would interest me in him. I think those comments were so important for so many of us. He was so far ahead of other folks. He had thought it through and he knew that there was a challenge. He knew that in order to represent the whole community, that simplifications had been made that were unfair to those left out. That furthermore, in order to pacify concerns about the gay lifestyle or its sexuality, the whole community received a 'cleaned up' and whitewashed representation in the media, and that this could ultimately not be successful or sustainable, if true acceptance or even integration was to be achieved. He also knew that he did not really have a place for himself, within this world of existing cliche. But instead of shrinking from the enormity of this situation, he took up the microphone, and both in word and song, he has been part of the public discourse ever since. And he has widened perceptions and carved out a large terrain for himself along the way. Not only can Adam today play Killer Queen one day, lounging on the sofa chaise longue, and the next day pull it back in a song that is introverted, he can do rock, pop, funk, dance, acoustic, electronic, without confusing his fanbase. He has also achieved a freedom in his personal life that few other famous people have. He gets photographed with a pornstar, sends out the picture, it's considered normal. He flies his ex to Argentina and back, a little local coverage in Finland, but nothing else. He casts a transgender person in his video, and it is just considered par for the course. Very few other artists have created an artistic brand for themselves, that gives them this kind of freedom. It also shows that times are indeed changing. What I do think was new for Adam once he got famous, was to hear that echo-chamber of public opinion bounce back onto him, everywhere. Every ignorant viewpoint posted on twitter, every guyliner-obsessed newspaper article with 6-year delay, and every cute dj with liberal, but ultimately totally ignorant views about the gay community, is now echoing back at him, and he gets to hear anything from ultra-conservative to liberal and from ignorant to enlightened, along the way. Each of these are freely using Adam's name or persona to make whatever point they happen to want to make. There is no way, that all of this can bounce off of Adam and not leave him sometimes confused about who this public persona 'Adam Lambert' is, and how he relates to who and whatever he sees in himself internally. But back to your point. Is any integration also paid for with a loss of community? Sure, and he probably feels that too, as he tries to reach broader masses with his music, something always gets watered down. But I think Adam IS trying to do something about that. I have the impression that Adam tries to exemplify diversity by letting the world into his rather rich life and his shape-shifting, role-playing, multi-persona is giving people a flavor of this diversity. He does so by making a large footprint in this world to begin with, and by including a lot of friends, this world becomes even larger and more diverse. And so he educates by example, and the world seems to be learning. The media of today, even with a naive dj in Netherlands, is nothing compared to the completely clueless media Adam had to face in 2009, as I am sure those that were around already in those days, can remember. Things are getting better, and I would assume that this NL dj is getting some kind of reeducation from his own colleagues right about now, because many more are outspoken today, than they were in the past. Of course it is still one step at a time, and there are still many steps to go. I don't know whether Adam was hoping for more diversity in the pictures he was shown during this gaydar game, because I sure thought there was very little of that in that group of pictures, but ultimately I thought it was probably better that there was nobody fitting that cliche gay stereotype, and therefore Adam got them all wrong and for what it's worth, the game resulted in the impression, that you cannot tell, which was probably good.

Things I wonder about:
I'm watching (and enjoying) The Voice. I have always enjoyed listening to and watching the reactions of successful singers when they hear the contestants, especially in the blind auditions. Their comments on the technical aspects always interest me.
In my fantasy, I would really like to see Adam sing in the blind auditions just to see the judges reactions before they turned, as they surely would, right? I can't even imagine their faces would be like when they heard him. Shock and awe comes to mind.
Not sure if they would recognize him from his voice, don't know how familiar they are with his career. And I would really love to see Adam Levine's face before he knew it was Adam. Then when he turned, the recognition. I mean, surely he must know who Adam Lambert is by now, don't you think?

The discussion, referenced above, from several pages ago on the thread, and added to by this post from Craazyforadam caused me to remember this tangent, this wonderful speech by Brad Bell (Adam's ex from long ago) when he accepted an award. www.welovesoaps.net/2013/05/isa4-brad-bell-wins-best-actor-comedy.htmlThanks to all those involved in the "gaydar" discussion. Many good points were made. Interesting to stumble upon as I quickly checked the news late tonight. peace&love

This Bring the Noise show sounds like it should be fun! Here's another description: Sky 1 launches new music and comedy show Bring The Noise "Bring the Noise is a bold and fresh mid-week comedy-entertainment series with unmissable live musical performances from chart-toppers, celebrity guests and comedians, and transmits in the autumn. While Ricky presides over proceedings as host, Nicole and Tinie head up two teams of three. Their guests each week will take part in rounds involving music trivia questions, games with musical set pieces, which will include spoof video parodies and mash-ups. The last round of each show will see the teams compete in a not-to-be-missed musical performance battle. The set is inspired by music arenas, allowing our audience of genuine pop fans to feel part of the musical action. There will also be a chance for these fans to get even closer to their idols as they participate in some of the funny games each week. In addition, a House Band will perform throughout each programme, with surprise guests joining them along the way." What does VT mean? Vocal talent? I'm hopeful Adam will be on one of the teams and participating throughout the show, but VT makes me think he might just be a musical guest. Wasn't there a pic awhile back of Adam sitting behind a desk with a Girl Band sitting next to him for some show? Maybe this one? Anyone else remember this? Probably answered by now but I just woke up! Pretty sure the pic you mention was of Adam (and LittleMix?) on the Keith Lemon show - Celebrity Juice. ......and I'm guessing that VT could mean video tape i.e. not live in the studio.
