Not only is this passe, demeaning, and everything else you said here, but also based on a completely ass-backwards thought process, that seems to have somehow taken over a lot of supposedly progressive thinking minds.
Why is it cool or preferential to have a strong gaydar?
It should not be.
A strong gaydar, especially based on just a picture would mean that you are judging people and putting them into boxes based on first glance. Why on earth would anybody think this is a good thing?
It also would mean that people are basically marked, with the proverbial sign on the forehead. Don't rather progressive thinking people want others to get away from such stereotypes, rather than drive them towards that? So what is the frame of mind these two DJ guys are having? They present themselves as cool and open, and the cute guy on the right may be cute, but if he does not get that this game's premise is totally f'd up, then looks is all he's got going for him. I think, Adam, the visual guy, gave him a pass, because of his looks, when he should have taken him down a notch, imo.
ok, let's guess income level, based on head shape and picture. Great, let's see whether you have a good 'richdar'
Let's guess health status based on a headshot, and call it 'desease-dar'
Let's guess marital status based on a facial picture, and call it 'marridar'
Let's guess left/right handed based on a facial picture, and that would be 'handed-dar'
and so on..
Even Adam, in trying to wriggle himself out of the unfortunate situation he was put in, came close to using one of the stereotypes himself, while trying to get out. 'I usually can tell by the voice'. Really? Sometimes you can tell, but there are many gay guys, where this is well hidden, either because they never sounded like the stereotype, or they systematically trained themselves to adapt. And in female voices it is almost impossible to tell.
Right now, what irks me the most about all this, is to find it proven again, that people with good looks get away with stuff that others don't. And Adam is ever so guilty of that and puts up with way to much, when his 'look-dar' gets in his way of his brain.
The other guy, who was just standing there, and not saying much during this part of the interview, seemed actually a bit uncomfortable with the situation too, but Adam had no eyes for him, he rather focused on the cuter dimwit, and even flirted with him.
Grrrr
Alright, sermon over. Just had to get this out of my system.
