Hi guys. I said the other day that I had to take a break from Atop, but I’m stopping in for a request. I know that your positive thoughts, vibes and prayers have made a difference for me during troubled times in the past.
My beautiful dog Shadow was diagnosed with terminal cancer yesterday – lymphoma and tumors in her lungs and liver. She’s 13, so I knew something was coming, but I so hoped that it wouldn’t be something so potentially painful.
So I’m asking that you guys do your magic again to help make her final journey less painful and as peaceful as possible. I know I’ll have to do the right thing when the time comes and I can’t fight the tears right now, but I WILL be there with her in the end and every day until then

I know how painful the decision is that you are facing. A few years ago, I had an extremely old pet who would not let go of this world. He was stone blind, he had arthritis, he survived a bout with cancer. Even after he began to suffer small strokes he seemed to want to stay with us. I knew it was because he loved us so much and did not want to leave. These days, the level of veterinary care is such that our pets can stay with us for far longer than ever before; far longer than nature provides. And pets are such stoics! They hide their pain and always look on the bright side. Bear wanted to be petted and get treats right up until the end even though I knew he was suffering. I felt OK about my decision when it was time to take Bear on that one way trip to the vet, but the grief was still like being hit by a truck. My heart is with you and Shadow. Even six years later, I still feel like Bear is always with me. And I think he always will be.

Ok gals/guys asking for a few hold my hand posts too. Leaving now to have some moles removed, one of which is growing. Also waiting for biopsy results of last week's doctor's visit for possible uterine cancer. I haven't been able to eat for two weeks because of nerves. It's been a great weight loss plan. Appreciate you all so much. I'll be thinking of the Atopers in the storm path too, sending wishes your way.
