I smoke & I've noticed recently that everytime I light a cigarette my Mama kitty jumps on me - time to STOP!!!!!! Don't smoke at all at work, or around family (Many x-smokers in the fam - so I respect that) or in my car! Only smoke at home - so it shouldn't be too hard to do. Any advise? :-/ :-/ :-/ I have been 7 years clean. It took me four times over the years to stop. The fourth time was the hardest. I felt like a crack addict. The first month I laid across my bed every day feeling horrible. I finally called my doctor and she told me that sometime in the 1980's the cigarette companies increased the nicotine in cigarettes and that nicotine, pound for pound, was more addictive than heroin. The first three weeks were the worst. I tried using nicotine patches but they just made me sick. Since this was my fourth try, I discovered that if I could get through three days, I would aim for three weeks. If I made it through the three weeks, I would aim for three months. Once I hit the three month mark, I felt great. I was also terrified to have a cigarette because I didn't think I could bear trying to stop again. Even now the thought of trying to stop smoking again keeps me from picking up a cigarette. I admit it was really tough. Seven years later, I realize it was the best and greatest task I have ever accomplished. I no longer get colds, bronchitis, or even get sick anymore. I feel healthier than ever. I also realize I must have smelled awful. I can now stand next to someone, and I can smell the least little bit of smoke on them and it sickens me. That was my story. I wish I had some helpful hints, but it was so hard. In the end it is worth the pain. Keep trying. The more times you try, you will eventually hit on that extra push that takes you over the hump. Good luck.

Back in August I posted about my brother. He was diagnosed with Stage4 Lung Cancer and at the time he nearly died. Now, 6 months later, I have some really good news to share. He finished his treatment in December and had a CAT scan last week. His doctors said he is in remission! It is truly the best news and we are so grateful. That's FANTASTIC news!!!! So happy for you and your family.

Oh, dear, I feel really shy about posting here since you are talking about how to quit smoking and about serious health issues, but I have to ask for your Glambert powers of praying. I have a really tough exam tomorrow and I am soooo scared of it. So, please keep me in your thoughts?

And don't be shy, this thread is here for talking about anything that is personal stuff not Adam news. It's not always about serious stuff but it is nice to be able to vent and just share our troubles. My favorite quote about fear is from a science fiction novel called "Dune" by Frank Herbert. "I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

Tinafea!!!!! Such great news! And here is a little more of my own. My grandson, who will be two this month, born the night of FS, will have a sister or brother joining him in September. This will be the second grandchild for me, and I am very excited. Fingers crossed everything will be regular and typical this time around. My grandson continues to thrive and amaze his doctors! His kidneys are doing well right now, and that is always the best news ever for our family. He and his mom are visiting this week and keeping me busy, so not much time to post, but I'm so excited for the MV and all the European promotion has been fun!

My Mom just sent me this in an e-mail. You have to have a certain sense of humor, but I've been laughing out loud.
I was in bed with a blind girl last night and she said that I had the biggest penis she had ever laid her hands on. I said "You're pulling my leg."
I saw a poor old lady fall over today on the ice!! At least I presume she was poor - she only had $1.20 in her purse.
My girlfriend thinks that I'm a stalker. Well, she's not exactly my girlfriend yet.
Went for my routine checkup today and everything seemed to be going fine until he stuck his index finger up my butt! Do you think I should change dentists?
A wife says to her husband you're always pushing me around and talking behind my back. He says what do you expect? You're in a wheel chair. I was explaining to my wife last night that when you die you get reincarnated but must come back as a different creature. She said she would like to come back as a cow. I said, "You're obviously not listening".
The wife has been missing a week now. Police said to prepare for the worst. So, I have been to the thrift shop to get all of her clothes back.
At the Senior Citizens Center they had a contest the other day. I lost by one point: The question was: Where do women mostly have curly hair? Apparently the correct answer was Africa!!!
One of the other questions that I missed was to name one thing commonly found in cells. It appears that Mexicans is not the correct answer either.
There's a new Muslim clothing shop opened in our shopping center, but I've been banned from it after asking to look at some of the new bomber jackets. You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles but at least they drive slowly past schools. Being a modest man, when I checked into my hotel on a recent trip, I said to the lady at the registration desk, "I hope the porn channel in my room is disabled." To which she replied, "No, it's regular people-porn, you sick bastard.
A buddy of mine has just told me he's getting it on with his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a mustache."
The Red Cross have just knocked at our door and asked if we could help towards the floods in Pakistan. I said we would love to, but our garden hose only reaches the driveway.

Aww, thank you ladies for the kind words! Your prayers and good wishes did help. I made it through in one piece, but the final results will come in in about two weeks.
