Hi guys, I need some of your life experience … I’ve never broken a bone before and have no experience how long the healing takes. What happened? I broke my ankle two weeks ago, got surgery (routine the docs said, just a steel plate and some screws), yesterday they removed the stitches and told me about the next steps: I have a fixed cast now and am not allowed to put any weight on the foot for two more weeks, then I'm allowed to put weight on it for another two weeks and the cast comes off July 6th. What’s my problem? WHAT ABOUT THE QUEENBERT CONCERTS????? The doctor's comment was “well, you will have a week until the concert” (after the cast gets removed), but then, I did not tell him I would need to travel to London, stay there a couple of days etc. Do any of you have experience with what one can do after a cast is removed (I will have had the cast for 6 weeks in all)?? Do you think I will be able to travel? My mother says, my ankle will be too weak, but I really, really want to go … sigh. As I said, I have no experience with something like that, I would know down to the exact day how long a severely sprained ankle takes to heal (have had lots of those), but broken and surgery? No idea. Thanks for your input and advice!

I am sorry QueeenAI, I have no useful information but there must be some way you can work it out. Maybe you could rent a knee scooter; a lady at work is using one and she gets around really well.

QueeenAl, maybe after the cast comes off you can wrap your ankle with one of those long elastic tensor bandages... just to help protect your ankle while travelling and doing the Queenbert concerts. Or... you can wrap up your ankle with a tensor bandage thingie, and get yourself a pair of crutches!!! That will make everyone feel sorry for you. ;D You can hobble into the concert with your crutches, and people will think you're kinda crazy, but also very BRAVE. ETA: Or you could maybe PM momtomany and ask her advice cause she's a nurse. But I'm sure she'd tell you to wrap up your ankle and GO!!!
