Bringing the original post over here too!
Okay, I fiannly have to break down and post something. Q3 and mods, this really is about Adam, I just need to bitch to you guys for a few minutes since my husband is ready to file for divorce (JK).
I’ve been here on and off for the past several weeks. However, typing is really difficult. My brain tells my fingers what to do, but MY FINGERS WON’T FUCKING LISTEN! At which point I do things like curse at the keyboard at the top of my lungs (my dog is now afraid of me), slap the fingers of one hand with the other hand (which usually misses and for which each hand is alternatively grateful), get up and stomp around the room, yell at my husband (who is being so sweet and helpful and doesn’t deserve it), then eventually cry in frustration. Then I spend a ridiculous amount of time correcting the millions of typos (if I left them in, it would read like some unknown foreign language). Then I get all done, all proud of myself, and hit some never-before seen key and delete the WHOLE FUCKING POST! This morning I am typing this in my word processing program and saving it every few seconds. Take that you fucking disabled, non-typing hands!
Reading the threads is also tough because my scroll finger refuses to listen to my brain and those up and down arrows suck. You’d be amazed at how many times I’ve wound up on different pages and in different threads (damn keys that never existed before again).
All of the ranting and whining, though true, is meant to make you guys laugh, NOT feel sorry for me. And the physical and occupational therapists keep telling me how much typing is such good therapy. I bet you know what choice words I have for them.
Things are improving little by little though. I’m able to do many things that I couldn’t right after the surgery. I can write fairly well and I’ve remembered my high school shorthand/steno (thanks for being such a prick Mr. Bastido – little did I know it would come in handy 40 years later). It’s just a shame my husband can’t read shorthand, but he does get out of doing a lot of chores by not understanding my “to do” lists.
This post is so long because I’m gonna get everything said, damn it! After which time you can find me curled up in the fetal position with a bottle of booze and a bottle of pain meds.
Now fiannly I get to the Adam part.
I’ve recently been partially responsible for three non-Adam fans being converted to fans. First up, my sister-in-law. She pretty much hated Adam on Idol – too flamboyant and too much screaming. She refused to watch any youtubes I sent her or listen to any acoustic stuff when I brought some cd’s with me on several visits. She called me a while ago and said “So did you see your boy on Idol?” I braced myself for the usual negative comments,. She said ”Wow, he can really sing. That performance was beautiful!”. After I picked my jaw up ff the floor, she continued. She is a nurse and said that many of her co-workers are pretty conservative and have agreed with her in the past on the screaming and his being too flamboyant (too much make-up, etc. – nothing about being gay). Well Adam’s performance on Idol was the talk of the water cooler the next day. They all loved it! And couldn’t get over how handsome he is. SIL said that she thought the new, toned down Adam will gain a lot of new fans this era.
Next up, my music geek friend. We have a lot in common in musical tastes. However, he has never cared for Adam. Again, the too much screaming thing. I figured I’d try one more time and sent him the Queen performances, a few old acoustics, BTIKM and NCOE. He called me last night to say that he loved them! What a voice! What an entertainer! He’s doing some concerts with Queen? Please send me videos!
The third person is my 30 something occupational therapist. She didn’t dislike Adam, just forgot about him after Idol. After talking about him, I sent her the videos of BTIKM, NCOE and a Trespassing performance. Her comment “Wow! I loved it! I will definitely buy that album!”
One new fan at a time...................
Well, that’s it! It only took me an hour and a half to type! Progress (I think).
