Will 'Idol' viewers stay or stray?

But with so few memorable, surprising performances and water-cooler moments this season, it's hard to get worked up for the all-star finale. Gone are the days of the more fiercely fought genre battles between popster Kris Allen and glamster Adam Lambert, boy wonder David Archuleta and rocker David Cook, and even two markedly different country singers, Carrie Underwood and Bo Bice.

There's an excitement gap on "Idol" now. And I'd wager a lot of once-loyal viewers may skip out on the finale entirely — and stray into the waiting arms of "Idol's" rivals.

Have just spent a while catching up on the Atop threads - it's amazing how fast time flies on this site isn't it! Time well spent. I love reading everyone's thoughts and wisdom. I loved your U2 related post RIHANNSU!!! Support your comments there. I definitley see lots of the same awesome qualities in Adam and Bono too. I'm a fan of both! (You can imagine how happy I was then to see them both within a month of each other last year). U2 make a strong effort in separating their individual activities from their band work. Must be hard sometimes though. Indeed, they are 4 rather than just 2, even though Bono and the Edge get more of the limelight. I'm sure having an Adam (the bass player) in their band helps! Mmm, I wonder if another Adam we know could fill in for their Adam's for a night on Idol. That would be fun to watch. Tall Adam, short Irish man! Kiwifever is now fading into dreamland..... almost time for bed.

Yeah, I find it hard to get excited about Idol and the contestants on it now. Adam raised the bar so high that I am finding that no one else can compete and their performances often fall flat for me. But then we already have our american idol , so don't need another. However, still been watching it this season to see how it plays out. The final is on Friday here (a day later) and going to have to keep myself from finding out the result so I don't give it away to my cousin and her family whom I watch it with! Not that we're worried who wins. We're all Adam fans and not so much into the country scene. It's a big contrast to how we were feeling during the season 8 finale!!!

Kris has always been good about answering questions about Adam during his interviews, IMO. (That is an old interview, right?)

I've always liked Kris. I never voted for him, just Adam, didn't buy his CD, but think he seems like a nice guy. It would be nice if he is happy, his marriage is strong, and he has success.
