You know, the problem with the current talent shows is that the judges are so over the top in their praise of mediocre singing, there is no place to go when someone extraordinary actually performs....I was thinking that as I watched the US Voice the other day....it is ludicrous...in rational terms, it is called the "Fallacy of the Suppressed Correlative"....no room is left for legitimate feedback. It started...or I noticed it...after Simon left Idol US....suddenly there seemed to be little real criticism. ...well perhaps that Iovine [?] tried....but it is not just Idol or Voice...also SOTYCD...and the quality of the contestants on those shows has suffered for that, imho. Funnily enough, the one that was the 'worst' for the is now arguably the best at being somewhat critical...DWTS. sigh.........my least favourite of the genre.
Am I off base??

bamafan! And 3 performers that can REALLY sang! ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I would go to this in a heartbeat if it was closer! YES! I'm looking forward to Pentatonix especially. I'll have to take a 5 hr flight thru Tampa (after driving an hour to Birmingham)...lol...and could almost drive it in 8 hrs and might consider doing that if it was summertime. Hi Bama that's great! Let's meet up. You might as well drive to Kansas for the next one. Good seats available there. No choirs LOL

I watched contestant #1 and contestant #2 on Swedish Idol just now and saw some mediocre amateurs but the judges were praising them like Caruso had been reborn!

One of these shows is enough for me. I really like the looks of the St Louis venue.

Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood & Phillip Phillips Feature in 'American Idol' Final Season TV Spot
By Michele Amabile Angermiller | November 13, 2015 2:15 PM EST
American Idol’s Farewell Season is just two months away, and the Fox singing competition is making everyone misty-eyed with the unveiling of a brand new commercial celebrating “the magic,” “the memories,” Adam Lambert and William Hung. The new spot opens with the moment Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson beats Justin Guarini, and goes on to spotlight a slew of Idols, including Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, Phillip Phillips, Kris Allen, Jennifer Hudson, Lee DeWyze, Katharine McPhee, Chris Daughtry, Fantasia, Taylor Hicks, David Cook, Scotty McCreery, Kellie Pickler -- and Lambert showing off his golden ticket and declaring he is “going to Hollywood.” Hung's infamous "She Bangs" audition is included for extra smiles. Judge Jennifer Lopez makes an appearance, saying that American Idol is still the “purest show out there where you can make your dreams come true” as the commercial runs footage of past winners standing in confetti. Keith Urban gets the last word, noting that “the next American Idol can be singing on a street corner right now,” as the camera cuts to Season 14 runner-up Clark Beckham. American Idol returns Jan. 6, 2016.
