Thank you! Other self-generated, high profile coups..."Time for Miracles" and Oprah.  Have to agree with you all. I was surprised Lyndsey made that comment in her article. Aside frpm the AMAs, which I assume the label got him, most of Adam's promo in 2009 was because people wanted him. I can remember, in the fandom, we were a little miffed at all the radio gigs and Jingle Balls Kris got. So, I think Kris got more label promo than Adam got. It's just that Adam is a "Hoopla Magnet!" Kris has such a different personality than Adam ,IMHO he doesn't really want the same type of press coverage that Adam gets. Adam just has this fantastic charisma that people want to be near him ,to talk to him & to touch him. His being just generates positivity. |

Look at the one 1/2 way down...the girl holding the heart....read the heart..... One of the many AFL claims to fame! LOL, noticed it right away and had to get out my Unit of Measure conversion chart just to make sure she was accurate. Yup.  |

Thanks again for the Sunday morining op-ed, NoAngel. I look forward to it every week. I used to look forward to certain Sunday edition editorials in the Houston Chronicle. You have surpassed them. Kudos And on the shallow end-- that's a whole lotta centimeters.  |

Must add my thanks once again for your thoughtful article this morning!! Love that your writing always makes me either laugh, think or feel strongly and sometimes all 3. So proud of Adam and his journey and looking forward to all the positive and amazing things to come!

NoAngel - Always love your Sunday posts, but especially this one! Left me teary-eyed...
I hope that Adam sees it as you do, as a reward, and doesn't feel like he's just at the bottom of yet another hill to climb up.
He seems really happy, so I will think positively!
ETA - Thanks to all you wonderful people who brought over pictures and videos from Russia...to think that we were worried we wouldn't get any!

If your post vanished, that is because it was directly about the Moscow concert and I am moving it over to the Moscow concert thread.
It has been a long time since we had a concert thread, so just a reminder or 3.....
1. Check page 1 of the concert thread for the latest videos and for a link to both a consolidated playlist of videos AND a link to a photo album of all of the photos.
2. If you come across a new video, photo, review or other item related to this concert, please post in the Moscow Maxidrom thread. Post it here and I will delete it. If the video, photo, etc has been posted multiple times and it is posted without any meaningful comment, I will probably delete it. (One photo was posted over 20 times in the concert thread -- I have deleted 16 of them.)
3. A news article or item about the concert can be posted in the news thread. These are rare.
Hope that makes sense.
Finally. the concert threads are read and reread for months in the future. If you want people to see something about the concert, that is the right place to post it. It will be "lost" in the news threads.

There were vids posted of the photoshoot. They really were photographed together, so - yes - they met and I assume they had a chance to talk that day. can someone post those videos? I don't think I've ever seen them. |

On the question of who got more support from their label --- Kris vs. Adam.
I agree with Lyndsey, RCA gave Adam more support financially than they gave to Kris. But Adam delivered more sales than Kris -- and Adam's much stronger pre-sale resulted in RCA believing they had a bigger sales opportunity with Adam. In addition, during the Idol season, Adam build an international fanbase that was large enough for a number of Sony Music Entertainment country/region managers to want to support FYE released all over the world.
Fact is, Adam has proven to be the most successful commercial recording and touring artist from the past 3 years of Idol. RCA should invest more in him.
Jive did get LLWD for Kris but at the time this was negotiated, The Script could not break into the US market (after trying for 2 years) and this was the forgotten B-side of a single. So I think there was not a lot of up front payment on this.
In comparison, Adam got a Gaga song, 2 Max Martin songs, a Dr. Luke track, a MUSE track, etc. RCA invest much more in Adam's album.
But comparing 19M's efforts from the end of Idol until November 2009 --- Kris actually got more opportunities than Adam and had the full winner's run. Something that they did not, and couple not deliver for Lee. Most of these winner's opportunities are negotiated before anyone knows who the winner is. So with David Cook as the current winner, 19M put together a great package of promo events and sponsorships for AI8's winner which turned out to be Kris.
But I think we need to give Kris credit -- many people find Kris very likable and trustworthy, and the Ford commercial was used a lot because it was reported to have tested well and to get sales results.
ETA: There is almost nothing an artist's management can put together opportunities for someone who isn't hot. An 19M depends on the record label funding promotions. For example, if 19M wanted Lee to open for a major artist, they would have to get his label to pay for it. And since he has no label support, that is not going to happen.
