Just awakened, read the thread as usual...wouldn't want to miss anything! Thought that ran through my head...I'm wondering if any "concern" about Adam's "status" reflects more on our (notice I'm including myself) need to have validation for stanning him? I'm thinking Adam's journey is a little like Ghostown's...slow and steady on an upward trajectory. I keep thinking about Adam saying the music business is ten times harder than being on Idol. Adam is a worldwide notable performer getting to have his cake (solo career) and eat it too (Queen frontman). His "cake" (career) is like one or more of Betty's finest offerings! I love this post and the comparison to GT. Beautiful analogy and I think very true. No matter what temporary angst sets in, I am certainly on the side of an amazing career trajectory that is long lasting. That's my life's work! Saw it from the very beginning. And Adam is incredibly versatile as we all know and likes a lot of balls in the air. I am not thinking it will be a "king of pop" career though he certainly has and will do very well in that milieu. Much more interesting and varied opportunities lie ahead. The best is yet to come though what has already happened is f***ing fantastic! I think that some of the frustration we feel about Adam's career at times is that he is an artist who is kind of "on the cusp." He's not so low on the "singer hierarchy" that his success just doesn't matter to anyone, but he is just hovering on the edge of the big-time level. People know who he is worldwide. His fan base is quite big. But he hasn't yet broken through to where we see him on American TV a lot, or on the big award shows, etc. He is just kind of suspended below that upper level. We keep wanting his to break through and be openly accepted by a larger US audience and the world at large. It does validate our own passion for him. I like the philosophy that longevity is the best goal. I'd rather see Adam performing for decades, doing many different things in show business, than to see him hit the highest heights and then just disappear, as many pop stars do. I truly believe he'll have a long career in many capacities. He's a class act.
