Well, first Sunday is just the official day Mediabase uses. Songs go up and down, they need one consistent time to be official. Think of it as a "deadline." Sunday evening is it. It is also, when the Mediabase "panel" removes the recurrent songs & "purges" songs. Purging is songs that are below 40 and have had negatives bullets for 2 Published reports in a row! Oh, I forgot about the bullets! The bullet is the number of new spins that a song gained over the past 7 days. Now, how do I predict? I make lists, daily, on what the songs above and below an Adam song are doing. I keep track of the negatives from above Adam and the songs that are climbing below. I also use the Building Chart, which shows the actual number of spins for the current week (not seven days rolling, but the actual days so far in this week.) For example, today's Building Chart is last Sunday through yesterday (6 days.) Whereas, the "Rolling Chart" on Mediabase, still has last Saturday included. The Building Chart is pretty accurate but they can't predict a good Saturday on a countdown show or something like SNOL, for a certain song, so occasionally they can be wrong because a song has a big Saturday! Here is the link for the Building Chart. They update every morning around 7:30 a.m. Pacific time. hitsdailydouble.com/mediabase_building_chartsBTW, this is also where we watch for radio adds on Mondays and Tuesdays. On the "radio" pull down at top, you can choose "Mediabase adds" or "Mediabase Building Chart."

I don't see any Canadian stations on the list. Is it being played in Canada yet? I don't want to start requesting too soon. GT is still #2 on my pop radio station.

Happy, it just hasn't shown up on any lists for Canada yet. The Canada lists are not as easy to access. For instance, I don't think they have a spin increase chart for us to see. :(

Just one minor technical correction to this part of the above excellent post...
"Audience Impression is in millions. It is determined by the Nielsen ratings of the stations in a certain city. In the US, NY is #1, LA is #2, Chicago is #3, etc. Audience is weighted by time of day the song is played. A spin at Noon is better than a spin at 3 a.m".
There is no weighting involved in Audience Impressions.
Should be:
Audience Impressions (AI) are in millions. It is the total of estimated number of people who had the opportunity to hear the song every time a radio station that played the song. For Mediabase it is calculated by multiplying the average Nielsen rating for the radio station during the time segment (Daypart) when the song was played times the market's total radio audience.
There is no weighting involved. Ratio audience sizes are estimated based on the average rating for specific time period using the Average Quarter-Hour Persons estimate (the average number of persons listening to a particular station for at least five minutes during a 15-minute period) as recorded by Nielsen. For Mediabase AI they use a grand average of these measurements for a larger time segment.
Dayparts used for Radio ratings are the time segments typically used in programming and by advertisers.
ovn = Overnight 12-6 am am = Morning drive 6–10 am - this is radio's Prime time (most listeners) mid = Midday 10 am - 3 pm pm = Afternoon drive 3–7 pm - this is radio's 2nd Prime (second most listeners) eve = Evening 7pm-12am
The markets used in US local radio are MSA or Metro (Metro Survey Area) are determined by Nielsen Media Services. The Metro Survey Area usually includes the cities of license for the majority of the local radio stations and the counties where these cities are located. About half of the radio Metros correspond to the federal government’s market definitions (Metropolitan Statistical Areas); the other half deviate in some way from the government MSAs. These exceptions were made to take into account such factors as historical market definitions, local trade and commuting patterns and local radio listening patterns.
Markets are ranked by total audience size - #1 New York, #2 Los Angeles, #3 Chicago, etc. The market size is related to Audience Impressions (AI) only because it is used to convert the sample ratings data into a total audience size. A radio station in NYC with low ratings could have a smaller audience that a radio station with high ratings in a large market.
Without making this a very technical and very long post, when you put it all together, the Mediabase AI is a somewhat loose estimate of audience size.

I don't see any Canadian stations on the list. Is it being played in Canada yet? I don't want to start requesting too soon. GT is still #2 on my pop radio station. Wait for WB to start promoting in Canada. Ghost Town is still getting a lot of airplay in Canada which should end soon. Ghost Town is still on the Mediabase Canadian HAC chart - at #23. On HAC songs that are down in plays for three consecutive weeks and below No. 15 are moved to Recurrent. Once GT goes recurrent in Canada (and I think it will go recurrent on Sunday*), spins will decline and WBPromo will start pushing ALN. ALN should do very well in Canada where Adult Pop songs tend to outperform the US Radio Airplay -- excellent market for ALN. * I have not looked up the old charts, just going by memory -- always dangerous.

It just seems like a very long road trip -- I remember first requesting the song and hearing it on the radio way back in June!!!

I am confused. What did I say thst was different? AI in millions - check Nielsen rating -check Time of day - check ???
ETA: Billboard uses AI as part if their Hot 100 formula! It is very important!
