The non-live singing is about all they are talking about at MJ's. Most think it wasn't autotune, but an actual recording added in after the live video part was shot. Kind of like how they do a music video. I haven't watched yet. But I will say the manipulations X Factor uses has me totally turned off. It is Idol X 10! I also read, at MJ's, not to expect the best girls to be put through. Because Simon will have his pet, that he wants to win, and he won't want anyone better competing! :-/ Lots of people there have watched the UK version for a few years. But what's weird is that I'm sure Nicole and Enrique were complaining about the backing tracks when Dexter was singing... as if they couldn't hear him properly. hmmm... I think I'll watch that one again.

Does anyone know when the actual "mentoring" starts?

Yeah I watched it. I was a bit irritated at the (1)obvious auto-tune, (2)the over the top crying, namely by Dexter and Stacey, (3)the too-tight, too form-fitting outfit that Stacey wore that made her look pregnant and cheap, (4)the high heeled shoes worn by Dexter who just looks completely ridiculous in them, and I don't' think any man can really pull of platform boots and tight pants and make it look good besides Adam)(5) the Nicole and Enrique pairing, both of them just look like a fish out of water, at least all the other mentors are paired with a producer or performer/singer, don't understand why they have two singers/performers paired here, they really don't look like they have a clue. Alright, that's that..whew Marie23... Simon was paired with NOBODY!! I think he said Mariah Carey was supposed to be his co-judge/co-mentor, but she couldn't make it at the last minute... blah blah blah... I think if Dexter DOESN'T get eliminated, they'll start to work on his style. : Same with Stacey... The dress was not flattering, but she said she had to borrow it from somebody = no money to buy anything new. ETA: Here on the west coast in Canada, they're just repeating last night's show again. :-/ Yeah, that was a mistake I think. Simon should have been paired with someone else then, because I think Simon's knowledge in pop music is like 10-20 years old, don't think he really knows what's constitutes for popular music in this day and time. And yeah about the auto tune. Yeah I do think that they sang live, and they went and fixed it up in the studio and dubbed it over the live video. That's why you hear background sounds, and they just abruptly stop when they start singing.

Here you've got singers performing around a freakin' pool and what we're hearing sounds like a professional studio recording!...Is that how X-factor is always done? It just looks so incongruous!! Ruined the show for me. apart from that....man oh man, the judges homes!! GAH! (rapper kid was pretty good - although I think he's obnoxious....liked a few others but I don't know anyone's names...haha! Not invested.) (edit: I think they were singing live (to the judges) - but their vocals were recorded and fixed up in the studio for the TV airing....dear lord, on one of the performances it almost sounds like they've got backup singers!....totally bizarre....do they think we're idiots? Let's be real here - prefer Idol's way of doing it - I could probably sound good with all those bells and whistles!! LOL! Okay, maybe not....) Yeah, I remember thinking they sounded like they were in a studio rather than on an open beach. I can't say I prefer Idol's way of doing it though. Raw with no enhancements didn't lead to the best person winning. Imagine if Adam were on the X-Factor. No way would they be enhancing his performance. I swear that man has ruined singing competitions for me forever.

wow, Ma3rie2, I watched tonight and the obvious autotune was totally lost on me. the only two acts that stick in my mind are the Answer and Drew. Were they autotuned???? I really only watched to catch the burrito slinger, can't think of his name, but he wasn't on tonight. He's the only one who made enough of an impression on me to make me tune in. Probably only because he's a burrito slinger. ETA: I meant Marie23 but when I colored it to bold it I picked up a letter and moved it. Only I could do that. lol, it's alright, it's no biggy . Haha yeah I'm not too invested either, I dont' really know anyone on x-factor.

Some people that I thought were just great and now it's hard to listen too, cause I just compare everyone to Adam. :(

OK, I just watched Dexter's performance again, and his backup track/backup singers were so LOUD. And immediately after, Nicole said something like, "I would have liked to hear the song more..." as if she couldn't really hear Dexter with all the other stuff going on. And throughout Dexter's performance, Enrique kept looking away--over to his right--and smiling/laughing, so I dunno what *that* was all about. ???

X Factor has turned into Xponentially high in reverb....
Dexter scary dude. Enrique looked like he was ready to leap out of his seat....
Simon looks like Caesar reclining on his chaise appraising his conquest....
All these gltiz , and lavish estates .... I do not know...
And I cannot stand the overs anymore with their over singing...
Drew .... the best. Still the one I am rooting for.
And somehow I am liking the Groups. Maybe seeing Paula there , in the more modest setting ( compared to the other three ) , and looking so genuinely happy for the kids. Somehow that scene works for me. Plus I thought the Anser was really good , and the Brewer brothers, adorable. I even like those grils that were thrown together to form a group. With a little bit more practice and some funky dresses, they would be relatable.
I want someone from Groups , to win this thing. Just to spite Simon. . I guess I am just annoyed at SImon with his posturing.

What? No comments about last nights show? Did everyone do what I did and miss last nights show because the TV guide said Baseball was on?
Here's Josh's performance and I think he blew away the competition
I don't think Rachel Crow was given the best song to show off her voice. I feel Simon will cut her as he thinks she won't cope with the stress even though she seems more confident than a lot of the older girls. He's absolutely determined to put that Tiah through.

I enjoyed tonight's show better. The outside singing, that sounds like it is coming from a recording studio, is still a big disconnect for me. They need to get back on the stage and in the TV studio! I liked Leroy, Josh, Melanie, Marcus, Rachel, the Stereo Hoggz group and the big group Intensity. My favorites from both nights are Melanie, Drew, Leroy (love him) Josh, and Marcus. The groups are all pretty meh, but I think the Stereo hoggs were the best. However, if the spoilers are correct I am going to be really, really mad at Simon tomorrow. It appears he is choosing by the "look" instead of talent. No surprise! >:( If Simon had, had his way during Idol auditions we wouldn't have ever met Carrie, Kelly, Cook, or Chris Daughtry
