I am just catching up on today's thread, so excuse me for jumping in before reading all the pages. Hope I am not repeating others' comments. I love this clip for so many reasons. First, Kris asks Adam what he is playing and Adam points to his throat. That says it all! It IS his instrument, and he plays it like a master. He don't need no guitar! We recently discussed Adam collaborating with another singer. This clip is a great example of why that is so not a good idea for the other singer. When you hear them side by side, trading phrases, Adam's voice just outshines Kris's. By a mile. On Angelina's program last night she spoke about how masterful it is when a performer can make you feel safe, happy and relaxed. How you don't have to worry about whether they can execute the song, hit the notes, and deliver the message. How you can trust them to sing it well and transport you. In this clip, when Kris sings I can literally feel the tension in his body and in his voice. My throat is straining with him to hit those notes. Then, when Adam starts to sing, I can feel my body just relax. His voice feels so effortless and in control. Can you hear it, too? Can you feel it? Cassie, you should hear one they did a duet on Queen's song, We're the Champion. I convert it to MP3 and listening in my car all the time. You can only hear Kris when he sang his part, but in the duet (mostly high register) you hardly could hear Kris' voice. Another collab I don't like between Adam, Kris and Allison, was singing Crazy in NY. We heard his version of Crazy in Art 4 Life Benefit, it was so AMAZING. I could hear him and Christina Aguilera singing Crazy together.

This one is annoying, too. I can't explain why I dislike it so much. It was just for fun and Alisan let Adam lead. Maybe because she sounds awful? And I really like that performance a lot. :D I watch the video frequently. Not saying however that I would want anything like that on his album. I wouldn't. I just think they're sweet together. Adam with Allison I. = ok. At least for Slow Ride. I love when Adam duets with anybody. He has so much fun. I am always amazed at how well he harmonizes with his partner. He seems to be listening in order to blend perfectly. I would love to hear Adam do a classic duet with a girl with a lower range. He sing the high part and she the lower. They could then switch for the next verse. This would have a different sound than other songs on the radio, but still familiar. It would require a female with a large vocal range and a very clear voice. I do not want to hear him sing with someone with an inferior voice just because they are popular. What would Adam sound like with Adele? I love the tone of her voice.

I still have to say that I think an Adam/BEP collab would be great. The Peas love him.

ITA. The thing is, Adam seems to LOVE collaborating with other artists – ALL kinds of artists (yes, and that mean some of the remix or DJ types many have not cared for before). But his musical knowledge and tastes are so incredibly diverse that he is going to do the unexpected.
Did he and Nikka or Sia sing a duet on the songs they worked on together? We don't know. What about BC Jean? *shrug* For all we know, he has five duets in the can right now (doubt it, but just shows how little we know).
He has done duets for years and from what I've observed, enjoys them very much. He's a people person and seems to revel in the energy exchange ("pushing each other to do better." - TM Kara). He said in his behind-the-scenes for FYE that he loves the collaborative process.
He chose the duet with Allison as part of his set for the Idol tour when he didn't have to do so. When someone at "The Talk" asked if he would like to work with Beyonce, he lit up like Times Square. There is always a wish list at the ready when someone asks (yes, that's likely because he KNOWS someone will ask).
I don't think the Alisan Music Box duet is a fair comparison, as that was totally improvised. She was essentially singing impromptu backup.
A side note: I've heard, from people who frequent the Pulse boards, etc. that L.A. Reid is known for being big into collaborations. And Adam's first order of business is to impress the hell out of the new boss and get him on his side.
