Britney? BRITNEY? I don't get it. I just don't get it. I was going to start a rant about her lack of....... Yeah. No. Never mind. It would just harsh a beautiful new morning. I'll just go listen to a little QAL instead. Britney has very passionate fans who want her to have everything she can have. I think we know how that feels . I do agree quite passionately with the sentiment of QAL playing there instead of her. Little thought experiment: can it be possible that they were asked and declined? You can't play live (or not totally live) at the halftime show, as I have understood. They might object to that. Isn't it a free gig.. stars don't get paid for appearance right??

My inner cynic tells me that had Queen been fronted by a young female (like Gaga) who could show up half naked then there would've been a chance...as it stands there is no way they would feature an "ancient" rock band with limited popularity amongst American public fronted by an openly gay guy. Why do you all think Adam NEVER sang at any sporting event after AI while almost every AI alum did sing? Do you think he was asked and declined? IMO he was never asked... YMMV

twitter.com/katzolicious/status/696683904388890624Exclusive: Adam Lambert on the Oscars: ‘I’d like to see other examples of diversity be represented’ Rob Garratt | February 8, 2016 Adam Lambert has spoken out on the continuing Oscars diversity controversy, calling for other minority groups to be recognised. In January, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences announced emergency voting and membership reform, following the viral #OscarsSoWhite campaign. Prominent African-American stars including Jada Pinkett Smith, Spike Lee and Will Smith pledged to boycott the February 28 ceremony. Now former American Idol star Lambert has stepped into the fray, saying more should be done to shine the spotlight on other sidelined ethnic and social groups. “I know the debate sparked from the lack of black American actors in films getting recognised,” said Lambert, 34, in an exclusive interview with The National. “In addition to that, we need more diversity in general. “The Oscar race is predominately white and male, and I’d like to see some other examples of diversities come through — there are a lot of other cultures which are underrepresented, and there’s a lot of different ways in which the Oscars could be more diverse.” Lambert — who famously sang “Hollywood sold out” in 2015 hit Ghost Town — will perform at Dubai’s RedFest DXB on Friday February 12.

Performing at half-time for the Super Bowl is a double-edged sword. Almost everyone is bashed, at least a little. But I can't believe QAL would turn it down if they were asked, even with the "not totally live" aspect. It's the biggest gig in the world at that moment in time. QAL plusses: their songs are often sung at sporting events and on commercials. They are an iconic band. QAL minuses: Despite those often-heard hits, lots of American don't really know that they're done by Queen. And Adam is only slightly known in the big picture, not really a solo superstar, at least not in the US. Despite all that, they would kick ass, IMO.
The halftime show seems to do best with sexy women singers and very masculine male ones. After all, the Super Bowl is stereotypically a "guy" thing. Bruce Springsteen, Bruno Mars, etc. are real "guys." Kind of urban tough. And women in skimpy outfits hopping around seem to do well, too. As much as I'd love to see QAL up there killing it with uber talent and great songs, I'm not sure it's the greatest fit. BUT, if they get the chance, I say GO for it.
