I wish the gains would've been as robust as the drops 8-) ...may be one day... I wonder if WBR really wanted a vigorous drop because ALN seemed to suffer by GT hanging around so long. I have a suspicion they wanted to clear the decks for a clean start for the next single in which case this is a good thing. And it needed to be fast because they want it to debut with TV coverage in the States. I noticed that AI announced Kelly Clarkson next week debuting her new single. Handwriting on the wall IMHO |

Handwriting on the wall IMHO I like your theory :D however, I always have a problem understanding the role and the influence the major labels have over the radio... it seems we are implying they can "pool" a song OFF radio play to the degree they want... which would imply they can get a song ON radio play to the degree they want as well... which is obviously not the case as IF it were true then all the singles on major labels would be going to at least top 10 as some time in their life cycle... I also don't understand why "GT hanging around" could hurt ALN chances of success...why would ALN have to be off the radio in order for TOH to be played? ...why is it that Adam can have only one song played while all the "darlings" can have 2 or 3 or god knows how many songs all over the charts? |

Alright. I'm confused. GT is back into the top 100 in Dutch iTunes and the album is popping up again too: Netherlands (iTunes) Songs: 93. Ghost Town Albums: 90. The Original High I really got no clue why. There is no news reported here and GT isn't played that often. No tweets about him either. Volumes are pretty low at the moment though, but still. Just pulling this out of the Spotify article for the WW minimum totals of GT!
“Ghost Town” today passed the 115m spotify streaming threshold, but that is just one more egg in its success basket.
Last month, the RIAA certified “Ghost Town” gold, representing 500,000 sales or sale-equivalents in the United States. “Ghost Town” has also been certified gold in Germany, platinum in Denmark, double-platinum in Australia, Poland, and Sweden, and triple-platinum in the Netherlands, collectively representing sales or sale equivalents of at least 1,110,000 units worldwide.
