I don't understand this "ALN was never going to be a real competitor" statement, why? I thought it was the most radio friendly of the songs on the album, the most universal and the most likely to be able to build on HAC and crossover. It was one of my top 5 too, and I think it showcases his vocals nicely. I listen to almost exclusively pop - mostly Hits 1 on Sirius, I don't think I'm that out of touch. I am very sad and perplexed as to why the song didn't catch on. Am I missing something? Not on the site very often these days..... I didn't mean "never going to be a real competitor" as in from day 1, I thought the song would do a lot better than it did. But, it was clear a month ago that it was not getting a significant enough amount of spins to hamper a new song's progress. Radio would have just moved on with a new single. The one thing I am very confident of is that radio "likes" Adam. He made a huge breakthrough in Chicago. If they like the song, they will spin it

Maybe I did not word that correctly. GT was still very popular when ALN was released. Yes, it went recurrent but was still getting a lot of spins. I am not an expert on radio stuff but it seemed to me that there was not a lot of room in the playlists for spinning two Adam songs the way there was for TS or Bieber. It also did not get any TV push or any push beyond Adam touring for those radio stations and singing it live. IMHO, ALN, though a good song, was not unique like GT and didn't stay 'fascinating". I still find GT fresh even after endlessly listening to it. I really hope TOH is the next single and connects. For me, it is another song that I still look forward to hearing every time. I think TOH is probably the best choice for next single. It is unique like Ghost Town, and less generic than ALN. But I really thought ALN was the least risky choice for Adam because HAC is where he historically starts with songs, and I also thought it had so much potential to compete with the crossover type artists Sheeran, Adele, etc. because of the style of song. I guess I'm saying TOH is riskier, and I hope it pays off. I really don't want to see a situation like 3rd single Trespassing (great song, released too late and without adequate support) :( ETA: I want to re-phrase my last sentence: I want to see TOH released as the next single soon with a kick-ass video and lots of label support!
