I'm worried whether his health (& as a result, his reduced singing ability) will affect his Idol performance on Thursday. It might not be as good as he wants it to be.

Okay, I have to concede that this is one time where the rumor mill appears to be correct. He is absolutely going easy on the vocals, not only dodging the very high glory notes, but also treading lightly on much of his mid range. The thing is, we know this because we are so familiar with every note from every concert for the past two and a half months. Those attending the concert tonight have no idea. All they know is that Adam is giving them a visually, musically, and sonically dynamite show. It is so well crafted it is impressive even without Adam going the extra octave vocally. He is giving them his all. Agree. Also his whole tone is 'softer'. Not as powerful. Almost being very careful on how he produces those notes. Like his throat is sore IMO, not his throat. The problem sounds like congestion in the chest and head, and crud coating his cords. If he pushes thru it too hard it will start a coughing fit. And with the head voice notes he just cannot get the resonance because the sinuses are clogged. I agree with you, tho', that if he pushes the power he can cause damage to his cords, so he is singing very smart. It is actually interesting to hear how he modifies the melodies and approach to accommodate his cold or whatever it is.

The good news is he has a couple of days of vocal rest before that - but it's tough that he has this 3 show stint when he's not at his best.

But do not worry. Adam is a pro and knows how to deliver his vocal even when he is sick. He said this himself on Idol, being on theater, he had to do shows 7 days a week and he learned a lot this time to do it even when he's sick.

Adam: How about we focus on what makes all the same instead of what makes us different ❤️

We were very nervous about Adams performance tonight but wow he is giving the songs a new twist we may come to like!

Bravo to the musicians and musical director. I was wondering how Adam would handle ALN because the chorus is consistently high and powerful.... not just a few glory notes. Well, they dropped the key for tonight. Much easier for him to sing. Smart move. It doesn't sound as brilliantly joyful, but most folks won't tell any difference. I remember from one of the QAL behind the scenes videos that they can change the key very simply in the electronics. The musicians don't even have to change the key they play in. Don't know if this is how they did it tonight, but it is so easy to do in the electronics, might even be computer controlled.
