I have been thinking about the WBR WTTS surprise single. It confirms two things:
1. Max Martin is still on board with Adam. That is really important for his commericial acceptance particularly for US radio.
2. WBR is investing in him between albums. This is really, really important.
ETA: We do not have a confirmation of WBR album #2 but this is a good sign.
I have a strong feeling that there will be a remix of this. That the version we have was produced to give Adam a great song for his Idol performance.
I think it might be a similar to a buzz single. Not a song they expect to be a big hit but a song released to keep an artist current.
Here is the Wikipedia definition of a buzz single (it is a good def) -- and I am not referring to this:
In music, a buzz single or advance single is a track or promotional song, released by the label (typically) preceding the album's release. The song(s) are released in order to bring attention to an album's release. Buzz singles are not typically issued to radio as promotional singles, but this will not prevent radio stations from playing the songs. Buzz singles are not always included on an album.
Rather I think it is a single designed to generate buzz in a generic sense.
Shoshanna said they were releasing this to radio at some future date. We might see a sign of this single being serviced to radio next week.
They took a lot of precautions to make sure this song did not leak. If they serviced it to radio before the Idol performance, it would have leaked.
A good, reliable source connected to WBR tells me there is more to this song/promo than we have seen or heard yet. I could not get any details {frustrating}.
I have a strong feeling this song has a purpose we do not know about.
JOKE IDEA: It will be the theme song for ESPN's baseball show. (To non-Americans, in the US, major league baseball is referred to as "the show."
Really bugging me: What was the music video Adam shot in Japan in January for? It is not this because this was recorded after January.
