To anyone going to the Chicago show on Wednesday, please be warned that the street the theatre is on (The Vic, 3145 N Sheffield Ave) is completely shut down one block south of the building. Sheffield is closed and so is Wellington so you can't take it from the west. You can approach it from the north via Belmont put parts of Belmont are also shut down. The whole thing is huge mess. If you have questions about the direction you are coming from, you can message me in the Chicago meet-up thread and I can give you specific directions.

Thank you to those who understand my point of view! I shared the links with good intention. My first thought when I heard the tracks was, ooh, the Atop community will love this, can't wait to hear their opinion! And then I shared those links on the Members Only thread. Turns out within minutes, the links were taken down, because WBR put in place a constantly-changing hyperlink to the songs. So I replaced them with a set of general instructions that you can learn and will be useful for anyone who wants to learn more about how website components are integrated, and such. If you are willing to try, you can apply your new skill to any website you visit. And, thank you to those who reminded me that posting the direct links was not a good idea. I overlooked that in my excitement. Good to see that WBR took down those links immediately after. I hope I didn't disappoint anyone, although I'm sure I have. I'm especially sorry to books and lydia, and anyone who shares their opinion, perhaps we can agree to disagree.

I suggest you review your post: "hidden in the source code so no one would find it". The intent is that no one hear the song until the release date. There was no assumption that someone would spend time trying to figure out how to get around their safeguards. You can try to finesse the language describing your behavior, but it is still wrong. If you disagree, I suggest you contact WBR, tell them what you've done, and ask them whether they are okay with it. I'm betting they won't be pleased. Hm, the same thing can be said for YouTube videos and other videos and pictures at various sites. Yet how many people here download YouTube videos using some software, all of which looks for the "hidden" files in the source code to download the videos. And may of the images that are posted here from Instagram, but not within the Instagram frame, are done so by looking at the Instagram page source, finding the link to the image file, and posting the link to that file here. Any computer programmer knows how to pull up the source code for web pages and look at the "hidden" files and links which are not very hidden at all. Every browser has a quick link tool that will show the source code. I'm not making a judgement that anything is right or wrong in any of this, I'm just saying that I see some pot calling the kettle black going on here! Given that it appears that I am being referred to as the "pot", I would like to point out that you have no idea what or how I download anything from the Internet, so please don't make assumptions about my behavior. In the case under discussion, it is clear that the official recording has not yet been released and is not meant to be heard until the release date. So you can make any justification that you wish, but it is still unethical, if not illegal, to access or provide access to the recording prior to its release date. I have a contact at a record label and I am happy to call this person tomorrow to clarify the ethics of this situation for you if that would be helpful.

You know, I don't really know what all you've been talking about on this thread.
I wouldn't know how to get into any link and seek out any code for the life of me.
But, just want to say I am proud of the way each of you has threaded this discussion. You've agreed or disagreed . . . but you've had a dialogue that's been respectful and honest.
You're the best of the best! Even tho I don't know a thing about the goings-on you've described!
Clueless but happy . . .

I'm not going to to d/l anything, because I am not that eager to have some song early, that I will hear in a few days anyhow, but I really don't think there is need for concern here.
I understand that not everyone speaks computer geek, just like not everyone speaks i.e. Chinese. But everyone knows that Chinese speakers do exist, so if I publish something in Chinese, I cannot really be surprised that a person will be found, who by translating it to English, is making it available to other people in the world who are interested. In the same way, everybody in the world, including folks at wbr know that computer literate people do exist. If they make the track publicly available in computer geek, then somebody is going to make it listenable to the rest of the world. Not all that surprising, really.
Now the question is, whether wbr unintentionally publicized the song, and it's a mistake, or whether it is so close to official release anyhow, i.e. it gets released Monday (in Asia it is already Monday since many hours), and so the release was planned and the fact that a few folks have it few hours before some formal public US announcement, is either of no relevance at all or outright wanted, because it generates buzz in insider circles. Somehow, I would not be surprised, if the latter were the case. Also makes sense, given that Adam promised us something for Monday. The fact that wbr is changing the link address constantly, tells me, they are well aware of the possibility to grab the link, but by changing it, they hinder the link from spreading via social media. Means to me, it is strategic and intended.
So, I have a tough time, seeing this as some theft or something similar. Maybe...clever fanbase sleuthing...maybe, but most likely, it is something that is totally anticipated and part of the pre-planned roll-out steps.

Eta: only saw those mod notes to close out discussion, after posting. Decided to leave it for now, in hope that the comparison with Chinese helps those that are less familiar with what it means to access publicly available code. But, if mods want to rather delete, fine too. I'll stop now.

For me personally, WTTS is the most earwormy single he's ever released.
