Jennifer Hudson Joins the Long List of American Idol Alumni Returning for Series Finale
And we're telling you, she's coming back!
Former American Idol and Dreamgirls star will perform on the upcoming series finale, PEOPLE can reveal exclusively.
The Academy Award winner first auditioned for the reality singing competition in 2003 and placed seventh on the show's third season.
And Hudson - who will pre-tape her performance because she is currently starring in The Color Purple on Broadway - won't be the only familiar face returning for Idol's fifteenth (and final) farewell.
Other alumni appearing on the April 7 show will be Carrie Underwood, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, Candice Glover, Caleb Johnson, Nick Fradiani, Ace Young, Allison Iraheta, Amber Holcomb, Blake Lewis, Bo Bice, Brandon Rogers, Bucky Covington, Carly Smithson, Casey James, Chris Daughtry, Clark Beckham, Clay Aiken, Colton Dixon, Constantine Maroulis, Danny Gokey, Diana DeGarmo, Elliott Yamin, George Huff, James Durbin, Jessica Sanchez, Josh Gracin, Joshua Ledet, Justin Guarini, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Kimberley Locke, Kree Harrison, LaToya London, Lauren Alaina, Melinda Doolittle, Pia Toscano, Sanjaya, Skylar Laine, Tamyra Gray and more.
Inaugural winner Kelly Clarkson - who is currently expecting her second child - also pre-taped her finale performance. The singer brought everyone - including herself - to tears in February when she performed "Piece by Piece" after guest-judging on the show for the first time.
"I'm pregnant and it's nostalgic and I can't believe it's the last season," the expectant mother said after singing. "Yeah, really sorry I just bawled."
American Idol airs Thursdays (at 8 p.m. ET) on Fox. The two-part finale will air Wednesday, April 6 and Thursday,
April 7.

I'm so glad Adam got his chance to perform on Idol solo as a featured artist a few weeks ago. Yes, it would have been great if he could be on the finale, too, but I'd hate to see him doing a group number. Kudos to all the Idol contestants, winners and otherwise. They are put their hopes and dreams on the line. I do hope we see a taped appearance of Adam in some fashion on the finale. And although I do not watch Idol anymore, I hope the person who wins has a really good voice. That should count, I think. Hope his taping of RHPS turns out to be a real killer and gets him some new attention.
