www.rollingstone.com/tv/news/the-lonesome-death-of-american-idol-20160408The Adam references : "But instead, last night's farewell episode just kind of dribbled away, like the final season overall. "Let's do a Bowie tribute, except instead of Adam Lambert or Fantasia, we'll have five folkie bros with matching acoustic guitars bore the living fucklights out of us all" — yeah, that's the kind of brainstorm that might help explain why Idol was finished. It was as dreary as everything "Starman" was rebel-rebelling against in the first place." "It wasn't a gradual decline — as soon as Paula Abdul left, the magic was gone. You could always count on Paula. Say what you like about the "Forever Your Girl" kid, she was excited to be there, getting up to dance or weeping her lashes off or just gushing her own special Paula-ese. You could trust her to tell Jordin Sparks, "You are in great, great vocal voice tonight!" Or inform Melinda Doolittle, "It's awesome when you're fantastic!" Or assure the greatest Idol singer ever, Adam Lambert: "Adam, you dare to dance in the path of greatness!" " "And when Idol had an actual creative force on its hands, there was a night-by-night excitement — especially in 2009, the season Adam kept ripping shit up, with his "Mad World" and his "Feeling Good" and whatever the hell he was doing to "Ring of Fire." And as the "American Dream" retrospective special this week showed, the Simon/Paula personality clash lurched into a weird running debate about our national values, right from the Season One auditions, with Paula making the valiantly nonsensical statement, "I don't think anyone should be told they can't do anything, no matter what!" Simon frowns at that." OMG! This RS review is everything! I consider myself probably one of the biggest Idol fans anywhere! And the Finale was sooooooooooo disappointing for me! Nigel tried to fit in too many Idols and lost them all in the process! The Bowie number was snooze worthy. Wrong choice of guys for Bowie. And I so missed seeing duets with this year's contestants. If I were directing, I would have a few big group numbers to fit in most of those 4-10th place past Idols. Then I would have used the 1-3 past idols in duets and/or trios or small numbers with this year's top 5. The interview with Dunkelman was awkward, as was Randy and Paula. I felt sorry for Ryan! This RS quote about the Bowie Tribute was so 'spot on' for me: My first reaction was 'what are they doing to Bowie's music...boring and you get not one feeling of Bowie's genius in this rambling guitars mess'!

And with those glasses in addition to the sideburns....looks very Elvisy in this pic.
I didn't know who Christina Milian was. Saw where Adam started following her on Instagram yesterday. I'm assuming she's on a TV show? Went to a music video. Liar....where she's singing about counting condoms...lol.

Idol was a great springboard if afterwards you were willing to work very, very hard. We all see the work ethic that Adam has brought to his after Idol experience. It doesn't surprise me that others have not faired as well. Unfortunately, the music industry isn't all about talent. There are definitely extremely talented people are there who struggle to make it. It's obvious that over night successes are few and far between. I don't think the Disney kids are a benchmark or a standard to compare other artists' successes. Bieber is an anomaly. So, when we look at Adam I am extremely happy for him and the niche that he has managed to carve out for himself in a very competitive market. I'm one of those silly people that honestly felt anxious for Adam. Not anymore.

Sideburns, no chin whiskers or mustache! Amazing how look a-like Elvis and Adam are in certain moments. Finally another word from Adam. I woke up this morning and was hoping for " a tidbit". The first thing that popped into my brain was ...all he would have to TWEET is ... EXHAUST....TED. Then I would know in the " all night filming" he rode the motorcycle" . Haha
