The snooping an intrusiveness of techology and the internet is terrible. Yesterday, someone posted about trying to vote in a poll on twitter and it required access to your entire twitter account. It similiar on facebook if you try to vote in So you think you can dance. In order to vote you have to give access to all your friends, etc. This is ridiculous. That comment was from me readon and I went to vote on one of the multitudes of voting-opps we get here [ : ] but the site wanted you to log on through either twitter or facebook. I clicked on twitter and the disclosure agreement wanted not only the usual tracking stuff but wanted you to agree to their tracking of your 'dm's'....I was flabbergasted and cancelled...there were very few comments to the article/vote [seriously, I have forgotten now] and that is no wonder. I don't remember ever noticing that stipulation. Makes you wonder how many people do not notice that difference!! seriously, WTF Facebook was pretty up front about. Once you cliked on the vote button, to took you to a screen that asked you to allow access to your facebook, your friends, your email, etc. If you clicked allow, I assume it would allow you to cast your votes. If you said no, then it says that you can't vote via facebook. It pissed me off. I am watching SYTYCD. My family and friends may not be. Why would I allow some anonymous internet presence to bombard them with crap. This is not going in a good direction. It's a little scary.

If its only Apple that's implementing this "Big Brother" software/hardware then the solution is simple. Bring other recording devices into the venue And I'm pretty sure some hacker along the way is going to crack this technology like the debacle that happened with the Ps3 or whatever it was. ITA, Reimer. I said yesterday that I think that genie is out of the bottle. They spend more time trying to go back and plug up holes in the dike that they don't bother to reevaluate and examine that yes, the world and technology has changed, so the best thing is to go with it and attempt to be on the forefront. Find ways to monetize it. Create your own streaming platform (btw, I read that Cook was doing a label-sanctioned stream coming up – just flashed by my feed, don't know details), micro-charge ($1.29, the cost of a iTunes download) or sell an App, sell advertising. There are many different options for expanding this instead of spinning your wheels trying to (as Rogers & Hammerstein once said) keep a wave upon the sand. NoAngel, I have no doubt in my mind that all the YTs of Adam have helped promote him and expand his international fan base. It didn't cost him anything and so many more people know about him because they discovered him on YouTube. Or, even if they didn't discover him on YT, it was the fix that kept feeding their habit (and of course, we've all been there). Good to know venue would have to buy a sensor; that makes more sense. I thought same thing – what about a peewee football game? Or your child's first dance recital?

Well, the Apple technology brings up an interesting question about whether concert recordings help or hurt an artist. It seems to me that in Adam's case, the YT vids served the purpose of giving hard-core stans a chance to "see" Adam's performances when they couldn't be there in person. I doubt whether anyone who watched a vid decided that they wouldn't go to a real concert because they've already seen it online, lol. In fact it may have done just the opposite-- whetted people's appetites and made them want to see him more often. Not to mention, that for people who live in parts of the world where Adam didn't perform, it was their only chance to see him at all, until we learned there would be a GNT Live DVD. I don't see how it could hurt an artist unless they are horrible live. The You Tube doesn't come close to the concert experience. Hell, Glam Nation Live DVD doesn't even come close to the concert experience! And, if someone is curious and watches a You Tube, I think it would be more likely they would be enticed to go and see the show live, not the other way around. ITA. A youtube does not come close to a live experience. However, if the performance is bad, then it could hurt the artist. However, if someone recommends an artist by linking to a live performance, I might check out the artist on Vevo or a music video. If they are better in a recorded performance, I might buy their record, but I would have no incentive to see them live. Of course, with no youtube at all, then I might never even buy their record.

I will try it again next week and see if i missed something, but it wouldn't let me continue if I didn't share. Text voting is pretty easy and I just wanted to compare the two. I will comment again on the SYTYCD thread next week.

I hate the idea of blocking concert recording.
Isn't there a group that records their own concerts and sells the cds to concert goers as they leave?

I think they give you a code to download or maybe it is an actual CD. But, yes, there are artists doing this.
