Billboarddotcom Billboard In honor of national LGBT Pride Month, we proudly present our list of 20 Great Gay Moments in Music. www.billboard.com/features/20-great-gay-moments-in-music-1005242082.story#/features/20-great-gay-moments-in-music-1005242082.story?page=223 minutes ago Adam Lambert Glams Up "American Idol.""While Adam Lambert didn't make his sexuality a major talking point while competing on "American Idol" -- he later came out in a "Rolling Stone" cover story -- "Idol" viewers and fans at home knew there was something special about the flamboyant contestant. Lambert was out in his personal and professional life well before he hit the "Idol" stage and made his mark as the contestant to watch. On the show, he fired up audiences with his glam rock stylings, sexed-up stage persona and multi-octave range. Though he finished the 2009 season of "Idol" in second place, he remianed the season's breakout star. His major label debut album "For Your Entertainment" has sold more than 800,000 copies in the U.S. and earned him a Grammy Award nomination for the No. 10 Hot 100 hit "Whataya Want From Me." -- Keith Caulfield"

ETA2: It's funny that he tweeted "Skylar" and our own Skylar just did a post. Skylar Grey youtu.be/-LEXkbxSh40ETA: Occasionally, when Adam tweets a song he really likes I get Skeeeeeeerd! :-/ {raises hand} You are not alone; I get over it quickly, but initially it makes me just a wee bit nervous.

Tons of artists out there...but I really wonder who he knows...and who is a random... I just like this person's song,...never met them... kind of tweet.
Well I was not going to post, deleted it, then went to read the thread and there is the reply from Sklyar Grey. It appears he may know her..not just a random @adamlambert tweet back...but thanks ADAM.
I was SKEEERRRRD and even more so after listening to half the song. Maybe I have to give it more of a try ...like gelly14 did. My nephew, who lives with us in the summer...randomly breaks into "sangin songs". He is not very good...but his heart is good, in that he loves all kinds of music. He pulls up some pretty good songs on the internet by some really random people, to share with me. They are all referred by others in his social groups.
So many out there trying to do what they love and make music . And such a small number actually make it to the airwaves to be heard. Guess that is why there are Indie labels and musicians like Camilla Grey who support and distibute their own music. Trying to do what they love!
Adam tweeting out the Simcon Curtis album, got the guy into the top 100 or 200 with no promo. Lucky to have someone in your corner like Adam with less ego and happy in supporting others. Adam is like a label.
By the way where did the word Indie come from??? Is it short for industrial...just curious?

Is it short for industrial...just curious? indie comes from independent and when we first heard it perhaps 30 years ago it meant artists with a certain attitude that were usually were signed to not very known or low budget labels. Through the years they added more meanings but I think the first meaning is still present. Maybe someone else can say it in better English.

I had a great time meeting Mariep, Glasskam, Nica (& her friend) and lm2718.They're all as lovely and interesting as their wonderful posts.Hugs to you lovely ladies It was wonderful to see you and spend time with you again Angelkrash! It was so special that this happened on the (almost) one year anniversary of the first time we met in Times Square when we spent all. that. time. together on line waiting for our first GNT show. I have wonderful memories of that day and the time we spent together after the show too! This new meeting was also special because I got to meet more atopians for the first time. Putting a face to the posts is a treat. Nica, I'm really happy that we met in person and I'm looking forward to doing it again. Thanks for bringing your friend along (sorry her name escapes me), it was interesting meeting an Adam fan I had never spoken to online before. lm2718, loved meeting you also and hope we see each other again. Thank you for saving me some walking time and giving me a ride back down to Times Square! Glasskam doesn't post anymore, but I do remember her from PF and it was great to meet her also. When I think of all the friendships Adam has made happen I just get all warm and fuzzy. Angel, enjoy the rest of your NYC vacation and have a safe journey back home to Israel.

Wow ...thanks Wal......
scroll alert That WIKI about Independent Music was truly very interesting, and engaging.
The artist who appears on page 2 with Adam on Billboard page mentioned above (top 20 Gay music moments) was a mention in that wiki article. "...Some independent artists have used the Internet (and an established fan base) to successfully fund new recording projects, relying on services like ArtistShare or using their own sites. For instance, singer-songwriter Jill Sobule released "California Years" in 2009, an album for which she'd raised nearly $90,000 online."
From that read ...the internet is often the make/break for indie artists. "Increasingly the internet is making new methods of publication accessible to independent musicians."
As many Atopers have mentioned ...we learn a lot on this site!! EDIT: thanks too to you as well gelly14
