What I noticed myself is that he seems way more relaxed with Queen than with his own tour. Sure he's still signaling and trying to make everything perfect, but we know Adam: he won't let that go.
His own tour was his responsibility so he had to take care of a lot of things probably. As the perfectionist that he is, it probably was quite stressful. At the end of each show he could let go some and enjoy the moment and he probably was relieved when it went well again and people liked it. You could tell by the end of the run in Europe that he let go more and more and especially the Munich show was quite the party. He seemed very happy with how things turned out and that it got great responses and it was quite the success. That probably radiated through his music and him performing his own music probably made the emotions a bit different as well.
As with Queen now he doesn't have to worry that much anymore. He still needs to deliver a stunning performance each time, but he's not in charge of everything anymore. He got a whole family around him that are very seasoned artists and also quite the crew. That makes it easier for him to concentrate on what he does best: singing and performing. They all radiate a lot of joy in these concerts. In Cologne I got to experience that by myself and it gives so much energy to the audience and the audience gives so much energy back! Everybody is enjoying the show. It's like one big party! Also as I told in my recap yesterday the joy and happiness which was so so visible on his face when he came down with Radio Ga Ga is not something I'm going to forget easily. He laughs a lot as are Brian and Roger and all the band members. They make jokes, but there isn't a section like there was with the TOH tour in the encore. In the Queen set list there isn't that much room for it so maybe that is what you are missing.
He's still happy though! Maybe a bit of different kind of happy, but happy nevertheless.

Oh, that's an interesting point. Where is Adam the most happy? What I've seen from Adam is that he was more focussed in his own tour, working a lot harder. Especially at the beginning of the show. Signalling the sound guy, taking care that the choreography looked good. Working to take the audience with him. I heard him soundchecking in Hamburg and I remember he sang at least 7 songs. I had the impression that he let go at the end, if he knew it had been a good show. And especially at the end of the tour, when he knew it had been a good tour. Yes, I saw him happy on stage, very happy, but I saw him angry too. I think that the intensity of having your own tour and being responsible for that and the happiness that you are indeed pulling it off balance things out. In the Queen shows I have seen Adam being much more relaxed. His bed is made, all he has to do is jump up and down on it. Yes, he has to do it right, but the audiences are in it from the start. He has got (most of) the die hard Queen fans, he knows it. The Queen production is very professional and it's mostly the same team who have been doing it for ages. Brian and Roger and the other guys are brilliant. And he gets to be absolutely ridiculous and glammed up. The sheer joy on that stage is like nothing I've ever felt. It's a less intense kind of happiness, but it is there and for me it feels like a warm sun (yeah, even in the cold Cologne rain) I love this description of the youthful exuberance Adam displays on stage with Queen. Perfect! I love both tours and I agree with your analysis. I would add that the TOH Tour, which I saw in DC, was overall sexier and to perhaps extend the analogy, he tore the top sheet off that bed and rolled around on it leaving us sweaty and breathing heavy. I enjoyed that a lot!!

This is a very interesting question about "where is Adam the most happy" (of course a question which we can never answer because we cant look into Adams mind and body, and can only see what he lets us see, so this question is not a "good" question, but it covers what we are talking about) I was thinking the same thoughts after seeing Adam in Cologne with Queen: he had this huge smile on his face, you cold see he enjoyed it very much. I completely share the feelings which are written in the posts above me: he is happy in both settings: solo and qal, but solo he has more responsabilities , so it is much more nerf-racking (especially as a crontrol freak like our Adam), and QAl is like a soft bed he can step into (where money is no question and he gets "everything"). Looking at this question from an artist point of view. I am doing theatre and have done it in 3 different theatre groups, all different as to what the approach is for the play. In one group we did everything ourselfs: we made our own scenes, we made our own scripts, our own outfits, did the promo, just did everything, it was our baby from the start before any letter was written. We played for very small audiences, maybe just 10 people. But we didn;t mind: this was our baby and it gave such a fullfilling! It wasn't glamoures, sometimes we didn';t have a dressingroom, but man, what a joy it was!! In another group we did a play by, for example, Shakespeare (the storm), we played it in a nice theater, the stage was beautiful, we had a script where we had to stick to, we could bring out own outfits, we had a bigger audience, we had lights, etc. etc. And man, i loved this as well!! It felt a bit like we were superstars I was very proud on both our groups, and i had so much fun in both, but the first one was more stressfull cause we had the whole thing covered by ourselfs, but the fulfillment was very strong. The Shakespeare play, i felt like a real actress It was so cool to play in a real theater, with all the lights, with a nice dressingroom, just the real deal. Long story short: As a performer like Adam: who wouldn't enjoy these huge stadiums, with unlimited budget, the admiration of thousands and thousands of fans, these famous songs, etc. But doing your own stuff which you are responsible for from the beginning to the end is stressfull, but so good! That is why he wanted to become a singer, do his own stuff. So he is happy in both, he can experience different parts of being a performer and singer.

My thought is there are many different kinds of happy and no reason you can't have more than one kind. The beauty of this situation for Adam is exactly that he doesn't have to choose, he gets to have them both which makes them both even better.

A lot of interesting, insightful and great personal observations about his two tours. He blew us away with his singing, choreography and audience engagement during TOH. Sometimes, you never knew what antics, gestures or comments he was going to deliver. With this tour, we can almost anticipate what he'll be saying or doing next. Also, I miss that for some of the last QAL shows, he included at least one of his own songs in the set. I know logically it doesn't make sense to include now but that "part of him", is not in these current shows. Oh, and Adele called out an audience member on the weekend for videoing her show and asked her to stop it and to enjoy the moment instead, just as Adam had done at his shows.
