The reception that Adam got in Memphis was one the biggest I have seen anywhere. It was his first deep South concert (except for Kris' hometown concert) and I think Adam fans wanted him to know that he was loved in the South. It was as if all the comments about people being worried about Adam playing the South turned into positive energy.
Plus, for many of us, we had no idea he had so many fans in the mid-South until that concert. I stayed at the Peabody Hotel downtown Memphis and it was packed with Adam fans. The bars and restaurants on Beale St. after the concert were like a post GNT party but it just happened -- and was not planned.
Honestly, after Little Rock where there were only about 100 Adam fans, I expected to be in another sea of Kris fans. And the variety of Adam fans was so surprising -- so many young girls screaming their heads off -- so many old girls screaming their heads off. There could easily have been 10,000 Adam fans there -- all screaming.
AND HE HAD ELVIS HAIR!!!! And had an extra Elvis edge that night.
The tour moved on through the South. The response across the South was the same as everywhere else -- Adam was loved. And Adam fans proved they know how to party. But that Memphis concert will always be special to me.
Now I need him to come to Ohio!!! (Kris was in my neck of the woods yesterday. I passed on that.) i.can.not.wait.4,the.next.tour!

OT/
BTW - James who claimed that he brought hard rock to Idol that no one had done before (forget about Daugthry and or nevermind that Adam sang Zepellin's WLL) .. his EP is a pop-light song... and kinda copy-cat of the original??? I think he shouldn't dished Adam (as someone who sing pop and electronic) that quick.. knowing that's the kinda song that Iovine made James do now.

That was indeed a well thought out and well written article. I especially resonated with his closing statement, "Opponents of gay marriage aren’t defending the Bible’s values. They’re using the Bible to defend their own."

Jaimie, I'm so glad you re-posted that Letter to Dr Laura. I wanted to save it when I saw it initially but didn't. Now I will.
IMO passing the Marriage Equality law has absolutely nothing to do with religion. The US has no state religion and equality for ALL of its citizens is an inalienable right. Churches will still be allowed to refuse to marry anyone they want. This is strictly a civil matter - separation of church and state remember? Tying it to religion is just a smokescreen for intolerance and homophobia.
Where the hell is Obama?
Continuing my rant - Neil can be very sarcastic, true. But he is smarter by far & way classier than Daniel Allen. I really don't think the two can be compared.
I don't recall what happened in Memphis & I won't ask for an explanation as some may not want to revisit what appears to be asshole behavior by the LR contingent.

murly -- what you said!! That said, there is a wide spectrum of Christian belief and thought. The part I can't stand, is when people claim that they believe the bible is the literal word of God to deny civil rights to people -- this was used to defend slavery in the US, oppress women and gays, and even to discriminate against Catholics. I think everyone is entitled to their own beliefs but they are not entitle to force them on me or other people. The challenge is that some people belong to religions that believe that God has charged them with spreading the Word of God. I have now learned to respond to the question, "Have you been saved?" with the response, "I'm Jewish, my people wrote the Book." End that conversation in about 4 seconds. On a related topic -- I am pleased that Libertarian-leaning Republicans finally stood up and pledged campaign support for the Republican Senators who supported gay marriage in NY. As long as these right-wing Christians control the money flow to Republican politicians, change will be impossible. Hopefully, more people will understand the need to support open-minded, socially liberal Republicans and reclaim the party of Lincoln. I hyperventalate when I think how self-righteous people can be about their beliefs and how defensive they get when you call them on the selectivity of their stances. I've confronted 3 people who I have considered friends for years about this since I've come to know Adam and his friends. None of them are homophobes, or maybe I'm kidding myself, but how they can not see the hypocrisy of condemning homosexuality yet tolerating other "sins" is mind-bogling. One of them has a (wonderful) Christian daughter who lives with her boyfriend because "they are going to get married anyway and are trying to save money on rent and THEY LOVE ONE ANOTHER." One is the third wife of a "Chrisitan" man who left his ex-wives other than the accepted Biblical reasons condoning divorce. One has had an abortion, because it was inconvenient to have the child, not because she was 16 or had been raped or had a medical condition. Everyone "forgives" them for these departures from the scripture they proclaim so vehemently, but I know for a fact they voted against marriage equality a few years back because homosexuality is a "sin." To me, one of the Seven Deadly Sins should be hypocrisy and another should be judging others. We say it all the time, but I live it every day - Adam has changed my life and my views (or at least the expression of them) in HUGE ways. I don't get strident about it, but I no longer am silent and let things pass. The old saying is so true, if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.! There are days I love and admire that boy so much I could die! Today's one of those days. It started this morning with re-listening to the IGB video. To think he is denied ANYTHING because of his orientation makes me burn.

I'm sure most of you have seen this before but it fits today's discussion. Dr. Laura Schlesinger is a US radio personality who dispenses advice to people who call in to her radio show. Recently, she said that, as an observant Orthodox Jew, homosexuality is an abomination according to Leviticus 18:22, and cannot be condoned under any circumstance. The following is an open letter to Dr. Laura penned by a US resident, which was posted on the Internet. It's funny, as well as informative.........
Dear Dr. Laura
Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate.
I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them.
1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual cleanliness - Lev.15:19-24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offence.
4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don.t agree. Can you settle this?
7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn.t we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev.20:14)
I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging.
Your devoted disciple and adoring fan, Jack I love this. I'm not enough of a scholar, especially of the old Testament, to ever debate on the Bible. Years ago in another city I went to a church where the pastor was the author of quite a few books on Apologetics. He was so knowlegable about the Bible and history during Biblical times that I was in awe of him. The other thing that amazed me was his true Christianity and knowledge that no one on this earth comes anywhere close to being perfect, it's just a matter of what Biblical laws you are disobeying, so bottom line (his words): GET OVER YOURSELF !!

I love the NY has made marriage equal. To anyone who says they don't agree I say that's ok then don't you marry a gay person! Problem solved.

LOL The tweet from Daniel Allen was posted over at MJs. Some comments were posted and then the entire group of comments suddenly disappeared. : It's always interesting to watch who the protected one is over there. Is there any other Idol, out of the last 10 seasons, who has had this type of special treatment? Adam gets "special treatment"...only it is for reasons other than protection.
