Adam’s message….
Q3 note - the caps are Adam's -- I added the colors, italics and font sizes.
“Welcome To The Show" is an anthem about facing exactly who you are and OWNING it. Its intended as a mantra to inspire strength and PRIDE. After recording the song a few months ago, I felt very compelled to create a video to further communicate it’s meaning.
I notice such diversity in my audiences when I’m on tour: Young, old, male, female, Trans, Gay, Straight, White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, and every beautiful in-between. The common bond is that they are all HUMAN BEINGS. No matter how we identify, the human heart has a universal set of emotions and needs. Sure it’s idealistic, but couldn’t we be recognizing our similarities, instead of our differences? It all comes down to Identity. We as a society are obsessed with how to classify and define each person. There are new labels invented monthly for how to describe new “types”. In some cases, these labels are needed to empower us and give us clarity, but it seems that at some point, all the categorizing can become quite divisive. I’ve seen so many people trapped by the identity they put so much effort into maintaining, or shunned by choosing not to. I have fallen into that trap myself. True Individuality seems daunting in our age of social media popularity contests. Sometimes it’s terrifying to face your true, whole self, stripped of any pretense. The good, the bad, the cracks, and the scars. I am no stranger to the feeling of not liking myself. Once I get past my own body image issues, I realize that I sometimes also neglect my own spirit. Living in a world filled with so much hatred sometimes makes cultivating self-love a very difficult task. I have always struggled with this as I’m sure many of you have. My path is a kind of paradox in that I get to share my craft with the world, but also be willing to throw myself to the wolves. To dare to be different, but still wanting to be accepted. There is vast beauty to be found in life’s contradictions. This non-binary reality allows us to lead happy, expressive lives, and yet this very freedom comes with great risks. I’m not alone in this limbo. Through my art, I pledge to bring empathy and courage to anyone who has been made to feel unworthy or ashamed while daring to be themselves.
This is the first time I’ve produced my own music video. With the help of my friend and long- time collaborator Lee Cherry, we set out to co-direct something notably honest. I spoke with Laleh (the brilliant songwriter who is featured on the song) and we agreed on the vulnerability we wanted captured on screen. I think the more we as artists share ourselves openly, the more someone out there may feel inspired to do the same. I also felt a strong feeling of empowerment in creating this video independent of the label system. It was time to shoot this one on my own. This video isn’t about selling a song, or product placement, or racking up viral views. This is intended simply as a creative expression. What resulted on set came from a very free and organic headspace that allowed me to connect with the camera as if it were each person who’s supported me over the last 7 years. This video is a thank you to all of you who have lined up to see the Original High World Tour. To everyone who has listened and shared my songs and given me the purpose to keep moving forward. It’s a thank you to all of you who choose to accept and Love who YOU are! We hold each other up! I want you to keep celebrating exactly who you are, even if you don’t fit into the worlds ideas of what they think you should be. Take your flaws in stride, nurture your talents, take pride in your Queerness, and share all the love you have.”

Adam Lambert Shares 'Welcome to The Show' Video to 'Inspire Strength & Pride'
7/6/2016 by Michele Amabile Angermiller
Adam Lambert is inviting fans to celebrate and own their individuality with the release of his first self-produced video, "Welcome to the Show."
The American Idol season eight alum premiered the video today (July 6) along with an introspective essay for Flaunt Magazine. The song, a collaboration with Swedish vocalist Laleh, was released as s separate track following Lambert's latest release, The Original High.
The song "is an anthem about facing exactly who you are and OWNING it," he wrote. "It's intended as a mantra to inspire strength and PRIDE."
youtu.be/ByLoEExI-pw
Lambert -- who is currently in Australia judging the new season of The X Factor -- co-directed the video with the help of his friend, photographer Lee Cherry. The clip is independent of his label, Warner Brothers, he explained.
"I also felt a strong feeling of empowerment in creating this video independent of the label system" he wrote. "It was time to shoot this one on my own. This video isn’t about selling a song, or product placement, or racking up viral views. This is intended simply as a creative expression."
Lambert was inspired by the diversity he sees nightly in his audiences while on tour.
"The common bond is that they are all human beings," he wrote.
"No matter how we identify, the human heart has a universal set of emotions and needs," he continued. "Sure it’s idealistic, but couldn’t we be recognizing our similarities, instead of our differences? It all comes down to Identity."
He further warns about the divisiveness of labels.
"I’ve seen so many people trapped by the identity they put so much effort into maintaining, or shunned by choosing not to. I have fallen into that trap myself," he wrote. "True Individuality seems daunting in our age of social media popularity contests. Sometimes it’s terrifying to face your true, whole self, stripped of any pretense. The good, the bad, the cracks, and the scars. I am no stranger to the feeling of not liking myself. Once I get past my own body image issues, I realize that I sometimes also neglect my own spirit. Living in a world filled with so much hatred sometimes makes cultivating self-love a very difficult task."
Lambert wrote that as an entertainer, he regularly, "throws himself to the wolves...daring to be different, but still wanting to be accepted."
To illustrate this paradox, the clip is shot in close-up as Lambert trades verses with Laleh. At one point he appears vulnerable and shirtless. The tight shots, he explained, are his way of personally connecting with the fans who have supported him for the past seven years.
"Through my art, I pledge to bring empathy and courage to anyone who has been made to feel unworthy or ashamed while daring to be themselves," he said.
In other Lambert news, the singer has signed a new modeling contract with London's MiLK Model Management. He will tour Asia with Queen this September and is set to portray the character of Eddie in Fox's The Rocky Horror Picture Show. According to a press release from MiLK, Lambert is already preparing to record music for the follow-up to The Original High.

How the Orlando Charity Single ‘Hands’ Went From Idea to Reality
By JOE COSCARELLIJULY 6, 2016
The day after a gunman killed 49 people and wounded 53 at the gay nightclub Pulse in Orlando, Fla., last month, the songwriter Justin Tranter got on a plane there to lend a hand.
Arriving from Miami, where he was on tour with Selena Gomez, Mr. Tranter spent the day volunteering at an Orlando L.G.B.T. center before taking a meeting with representatives for Glaad that Sunday night. He wanted to do more — writing a song seemed like the obvious answer.
“It’s not an original idea,” Mr. Tranter said of spearheading a charity single, à la “We Are the World.” “It’s a classic one: musicians creating music to raise money and awareness.”
The result was “Hands,” a track released Wednesday that features some of the biggest names in pop music, including Ms. Gomez, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, Mary J. Blige, Pink, Juanes, Kacey Musgraves, Adam Lambert and many more. Proceeds from the song, available exclusively on iTunes, will benefit Equality Florida, the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida and Glaad.

“Hands” - A Song for Orlando Video by Interscope Records
“I’m so connected to the community that I was lucky enough to be born into,” said Mr. Tranter, who was a teenager when he came out as gay. “Why not try to help as much as you possibly can?”
Mr. Tranter wrote “Hands” with his frequent collaborator Julia Michaels and the producer Blood Pop — all part of the team behind Justin Bieber’s No. 1 hit “Sorry.” The producer Mark Ronson also contributed to “Hands,” while Glaad, the music publisher Warner Chappell and the label Interscope helped to wrangle the artists.
“We wanted to make sure the group was diverse in terms of genre and where people come from,” Mr. Tranter said. “This tragedy was against the L.G.B.T. community and people of color, especially the Latin community. We wanted to make sure that we were inclusive every step of the way.”
His industry connections helped. Having been in the studio with Ms. Gomez, Ms. Spears, Ms. Stefani and others, “The first thing we did was text and or call all the people that I know personally,” Mr. Tranter said. “Every day someone new would say yes.”
With the stars on board, he and Ms. Michaels mapped which section each person should sing. The vocal producer Benjamin Rice was charged with putting it all together. “Everyone kept sending us two lines, four lines, whatever it was, and then Ben had the task of making a symphony out of these 24 unbelievable artists,” Mr. Tranter said. “He was working through the night for three nights to get this done.”
“Hands” begins with Ms. Spears singing, “Can hold a gun/And hold your heart/Can put out fires/And make ’em start.” (“A lot of gay kids are very, very excited about Britney,” Mr. Tranter said.) Other lines include, “If a million hands can build a wall/A million hands can break it down.” Asked if that was an allusion to Donald J. HeWhoCannot amed’s proposal to build a wall between the United States and Mexico, Mr. Tranter said, “That phrase is definitely on purpose.”
Along with the big names, Mr. Tranter added his own flourishes. “Being someone from the gay community, I was like, ‘RuPaul is going to be on this!’” he said. Mr. Tranter also personally helped record vocals from the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles. “All these beautiful trans singers putting their vocals around these superstars was really special to me,” he said, adding that the song was not meant to be “preachy.”
“We’re not trying to speak for anyone,” he said. “We’re just trying to put out something positive.”
