I'll bet what he really wanted to set was "if you're a republican, why the fuck are you even my fan?" And I think he didn't. His speech in the US was clear enough. Doesn't matter which label you put on yourself. We are all humans. We might not agree always with each other, but I don't think he would ever exclude a fan for their political believes. i agree. if you don't think you can change the hearts and mind of some then nothing will ever change

That's right, he wouldn't. He doesn't exclude. He has said several times, everybody is welcome in this fandom...everybody. He has views and opinions and his fans have theirs. He probably tires of some folks telling him what to do or what to say....but I think these comments from him were very considerate and fair to all parties. Too bad some of his fans on Twitter aren't as civil and fair minded. The hatred, vitriol and exclusion coming from some progressive fans I follow on Twitter makes me cringe. November can't come soon enough.

I am so happy Adam said/posted this. There are some things that really need to be said and this is one of them. I'll bet what he really wanted to set was "if you're a republican, why the fuck are you even my fan?" I think he said exactly what he wanted to say: that it's his page, and that whatever opinions other people might have, they shouldn't tell him what he can or can't say on HIS page, which is what some commenters were doing.

Just remember what he wrote under his MV for WTTS: I notice such diversity in my audiences when I’m on tour: Young, old, male, female, Trans, Gay, Straight, White, Black, Asian, Hispanic, and every beautiful in-between. The common bond is that they are all HUMAN BEINGS. No matter how we identify, the human heart has a universal set of emotions and needs. Sure it’s idealistic, but couldn’t we be recognizing our similarities, instead of our differences? It all comes down to Identity. We as a society are obsessed with how to classify and define each person. There are new labels invented monthly for how to describe new “types”. In some cases, these labels are needed to empower us and give us clarity, but it seems that at some point, all the categorizing can become quite divisive. I’ve seen so many people trapped by the identity they put so much effort into maintaining, or shunned by choosing not to. I have fallen into that trap myself. True Individuality seems daunting in our age of social media popularity contests. Sometimes it’s terrifying to face your true, whole self, stripped of any pretense. The good, the bad, the cracks, and the scars. I am no stranger to the feeling of not liking myself. Once I get past my own body image issues, I realize that I sometimes also neglect my own spirit. Living in a world filled with so much hatred sometimes makes cultivating self-love a very difficult task. I have always struggled with this as I’m sure many of you have. My path is a kind of paradox in that I get to share my craft with the world, but also be willing to throw myself to the wolves. To dare to be different, but still wanting to be accepted. There is vast beauty to be found in life’s contradictions. This non-binary reality allows us to lead happy, expressive lives, and yet this very freedom comes with great risks. I’m not alone in this limbo. Through my art, I pledge to bring empathy and courage to anyone who has been made to feel unworthy or ashamed while daring to be themselves. www.youtube.com/watch?v=ByLoEExI-pw

November can't come soon enough. The quotation posted with Freddie's picture refers to the "party," not to HeWhoCannot amed specifically. It is true that HeWhoCannot amed has not been a gay basher. But the Republican party in general has been slow to promote gay rights and some of their spokespeople are still very resistant to promoting gay rights. HeWhoCannot amed's stance on issues is all over the place, actually.
