I have to say, whether you like FYE or not, I never really understood why it was never part of the live portion of GlamNation from the beginning??? I was a bit puzzled about that for a while. When I watched the GNL DVD it gelled for me. When I saw the whole show together like that (instead of individual songs on YT, and when I was not totally entranced at a live performance) it hit me very strongly that this was not a music concert, but, rather, a staged show. It resembles musical theater in many ways. There are even some "musicals" that are revues rather than a traditional story/play with music added. Musicals almost always have an overture. An instrumental piece right before the curtain opens and the show begins. The overture sets the mood or tone for the performance to come. I think that was the purpose of FYE playing before Adam's entrance. In that light, it works very well, telling the audience to get ready, Adam is here to entertain us..... and he certainly does. I remember liking that idea when you first posted it. Also, thanks for the download for Angelina's program. I listened to the entire program and was totally focused the whole time. People, if you haven't listened yet, schedule the hour into your day to do it. I particularly loved the recitation of the the Aftermath and Broken Open lyrics by the guest. They really work as poetry. I hope you enjoy these. I've had a big learning curve today trying to post this audio recitation for my Atop friends. After trying many different things and running into roadblocks, I finally threw both songs into iMovie and made YouTube videos (my first ever). They are not exciting videos. I purposely did not put in a bunch of photos to go along with the lyrics because I thought that would distract from the words. (Besides, I'm not that skilled in movie making. )

Confession time. Please don't hate me. I hate Master Plan. The only song from the 18 track album that I always skip. Awesome lyrics, hate hate the melody. More confession and I'm not an expert, just expressing my feelings. When I listen to it, I think the melody was written by a child who knows nothing about music. :-[

It also works well to give me energy to clean house. I know, I know, not everyone likes the same thing. I always skip Loaded Smile.

Since it can give you energy to clean the house I give up. Very few songs can do this IMO. And thank you for responding. That way I can see your avi once again! ;D

my guess (and I think didn't Adam say this at a meet n' greet once?) is that the bridge of PUU is too difficult to sing on a regular basis, that it was constructed in the studio. I know there was a fan report of hearing him sing it at sound check and nail the bridge once, but never an audio of this. The bridge is one of the few things on FYE that was manipulated in the studio. It sounds like it is sung on one breath. The phrase lasts for 27 seconds. While Adam can sustain a note endlessly (Brigadoon - 21 seconds), singing words with power, in an upbeat song, in his lower register is probably too much to ask of even him. However, he could easily sneak in a breath or two which would hardly be noticed, and would not in any way mess up the song. Therefore, I think he must have another reason for not singing it. Personally, (don't shoot me), I think it is one of the more mundane songs on the album. The lyrics don't say anything significant, and the melody and beat are not particularly compelling. It just doesn't sound like a song Adam can sink his chops into. He can't tear scenery with it like Sleepwalker, he can't play with it like Fever, he can't exude joy like IIHY, he can't touch you like Soaked. I have heard him sing it well live. I think he liked the idea of using it as an overture. Yup. That one is a killer. It would take too much energy and concentration to sing regularly. It stays so high for so long, with lyrics that are almost impossible to articulate in that range. It's just too risky. I would LOVE to hear it live as a one-off, tho'.
