I have been thinking about this ever since WTTS came out but never mentioned it. Then I read something in Angelina Kalahari's blog post that made me go Aha! So, watch the WTTS video again (see how I am doing melliemom's work for her ) and pay attention to how Adam holds his mouth as opposed to Laleh. It really struck me in the beginning and still does every time I watch, that Adam uses his upper lip to form words keeping his bottom lip more fixed and Laleh does just the opposite. I had never really noticed it before and I think it is because his face is so prominent in the video. He doesn't necessarily to that when he speaks. Now to Angelina's lovely post. First, I enjoyed it but cassie, you have so educated us on voice that I found myself occasionally thinking, that's what cassie says! I know, I know, get to the point Linda! In her blog Angelina said this, " And because Adam places sound foremost in his mask (the little triangle that uses your top lips as the base, the sides of the triangle moving up on either sides of your nose until they meet at a point just above your eyebrows), it has the added benefit of creating not only a wonderful tone and timbre, but incredibly clear diction." That was my aha! moment and is what I think I notice in the video. Am I close cassie and do you have any thoughts? I keyed up the video at a very obvious instance here although he does it throughout and added a link to Angelina's blog after. youtu.be/ByLoEExI-pw?t=147soundbath.wordpress.com/2016/07/24/adam-lamberts-beautiful-voice/Fascinating! Here's my theory. A little while back I commented to Angelina about a picture saying that I could clearly see how he shaped his mouth to produce that resonance in his mask at the front of his face. She agreed. It is rare to be able to actually SEE how the sound is produced, like that. Now, you are commenting about how his mouth or lips move, so I watched the video with that in mind specifically. What I noticed is how Adam drops his jaw consistently while singing. It is like the dropped jaw, open mouth is the default position when he sings. He then moves his lips and tongue to articulate the words. The only time he narrows that jaw opening is on certain vowels that cannot be produced with a dropped jaw. But even those, for instance ee, or I as in "hit", his jaw is dropped somewhat and his tongue creates the smaller opening necessary to pronounce that vowel. (Blame my training in speech therapy and lipreading for noticing that.) What that does, I suspect, is create more resonance in his oral cavity while focusing that resonance forward and up into the mask. It is also why he is easier to understand than most pop singers. He has to move his lips and tongue more than normal to make the sound with a dropped jaw. Thanks ever so for pointing that out.

So it's a bit off topic but is has a take on LBTQ issues and that is the Netflix series Grace and Frankie. My DH and I just started watching a few weeks ago after I read an article with Jane Fonda. He wasn't going to watch it at all but it has won him over. For a quick synopsis, which you might think is a spoiler but is actually revealed in the very first scene, is that the husbands of two heterosexual couples fall in love with each other. Chaos ensues. It's very engaging. Anyone else a fan or who has watched it? I LOVE Grace and Frankie! Couldn't believe Season 1 ended so quickly and binge watched Season 2. Such a good show! I watched season 1 last year and loved it...and that is saying something as I rarely ever watch half hour sit-com style shows...just as I rarely read short stories....I like the long tangled character development ones. I have not watched season 2...thanks for the reminder....will do....really good acting ...but then what do you expect from such a stellar cast.

Thank you very much for bringing this article over pi. The bing translation is not accurate though. The tweet says: Adam Lambert "welcomes you on his show". A former contestant of Pop Idol competition is quite busy. If someone is interested here is a short summary of the article: They write about Adam's cooperation with Queen (since 2011), mention his TOH album with both singles, GT and ALN (saying both of the singles were hits and stayed for a long time high on our music charts). And that he released a new song Welcome To The Show now (with backing vocals of sweden singer Laleh). They compare WWTS to GT saying, there are some similarities in the music as well as in the video. In the end of the article is a mention of Adam's message to his fans. And they call him 'Whataya Want From Me' hitmaker.
