you're all completely right, of course, about Adam and his love of changing things up, and how we can never expect the same thing from him twice, and how wonderful that is. I had meant to shut up about this now (well, a while ago) because I'm getting boring (well, a while ago) but I just want to clarify one thing. I don't care about the rhinestones. I mean, no one can wear rhinestones on his eyelids quite like Adam (b!tches) but I certainly don't mourn them. I can see how that would get old (especially after doing meet and greets with 5,000 good-natured, well-meaning, rhinestone-bedazzled fans!) What I really care about is the attitude behind the rhinestones. The sense of humor. The playfulness. The idea that what a lot of great pop music is about is fun (and I'm not talking about the empty dance-floor fun that Chunkey has captured so, um, poetically). The willingness to be absurd. And I guess that all I was trying to say in my original post was that despite all this talk about Serious Adam that these lovely intense photos inspired, I have a lot of faith that all that playfulness and absurdity is still there, and still part of the process and of the artform for him, even if he isn't sporting rhinestones at the moment. I need one of seoulmate's "you have no idea how much I love this post" cat pictures. Chunkey, yeah none of those guy scream fabulous pop star. It makes you see how hard it is to do what Adam is trying to do. On the bright side that old sales saying " Find a need fill" may work for him. LMAO to your post, MWP!! I loved it too. Jamie, I am reeling from the Rolling Stone article. It is fascinating and to me and I think it only reiterated the concept that this industry is starving for a male pop star. As Kara said, "No one else is doing it – it's your lane, kill it!" (Yes, I know she was talking about a rock amalgam, but still the sentiment applies.) There is no one that is remotely like Adam right now. Things can change so incredibly fast. We never heard of Taylor Swift four years ago and now she has with 40+ awards????? (I always said that child made a pact with the devil); now I think it's time she has her obligatory pop diva breakdown Okay, I'm only half serious/joking/take your pick about that 8-)

Is Adam on this picture? :-/ I am guessing back row, third from the left? Thanks again for all that you have done, 4msrmyn!! Yes, but remember Adam played "Margaret Mead", a man pretending to be a woman.

I remember Adam doing an interview after FYE had come out and saying he had no idea how much power radio stations had. A few more times he has mentioned that radio would never let an actual gay man sing a gay anthem or use the same sex pronoun. I HATE the fact that he has these constraints in his head while recording this album while the pop divas and rap guys can get away with anything. You know he wants to be pushing buttons and the envelope. He'll figure it out but it sucks that he has to. What he's doing now will make it easier for the next guy coming up behind him. But it still must be a thorn in his side.

He could have 10 amazing potential singles but what does it matter if they aren't willing to play them? Hopefully he gets a better shot this go around for maximum airplay like some artists get.

I believe there is no denying the potential of Adam blowing up big in the mainstream with #2....if...the songs are there with proper backing, and he visually goes in this more palatable mainstream direction that these current studio photos suggest he maybe. I am personally excited about this, and look forward to seeing his star rise!

I want to add that I am getting a stronger and stronger feeling of inevitability from Adam. Not that I think it's inevitable that he be the biggest star in the history of the world (although I wouldn't complain if he were), but that I think he's going to be someone that the industry sees as a serious artist, someone who will make the music he wants with the people he wants. Someone who is recognized for having something to say. Someone who can't be ignored. Whatever level that takes him to is fine with me.
