Adam Lambert will play the part of Eddie in the new version, and Meat Loaf, who originated the role, admits he wasn't thrilled initially with that casting. Not because he thought Adam would be bad -- but because he thought he'd be too good. In case you've never seen the movie, Eddie is a motorcycle-riding, lobotomized ex-delivery boy who's killed by the transvestite alien Dr. Frank N. Furter. Before his death, he sings his big rock and roll number, "Hot Patootie." Meat Loaf tells ABC Radio he was dismayed when he learned who Fox had cast as Eddie. "When I first heard it was Adam Lambert, I was really upset," he tells ABC Radio. "Because anybody who can get up on stage with Queen and do the songs that Freddie Mercury did…I mean, Adam Lambert is one great singer." Yes, believe it or not, Meat Loaf was afraid that Adam would be so great in the role that everyone would forget about him. Meat Loaf laughs, "I thought he’d blow me away! I was going, 'Ah, damn! Oh, man, come on! Why Adam Lambert!?'” "So Lou Adler....the producer of Rocky Horror, sent me Adam’s version of 'Hot Patootie,'” Meat Loaf says. And after checking out the competition, the legendary singer says he felt a lot better about it. He laughs, "I listened to it and went, 'Well, that is really, really good. But Adam, I’m sorry. I’m still number one!'” I can't blame Meat Loaf for being very protective of his Eddie role. He did originate it, at least on screen, and it has "belonged" to him for a long time. But I'm willing to predict that Adam's version of the role is more than just "really, really good." I think he knocked it out of the park. We'll see. Mr. Loaf wants to hang onto that "original" badge of honor, and that's fine. Adam will get some accolades, too. There will be the inevitable comparisons. |

Singapore, for example. Remember when Adam was there and Neil was his assistance and Neil was up all night with the F1 race track noise? That video of Neil, so bleary-eyed and tired, was funny. |

JustKaren, what a labor of love and investment in time!!! You all look great and so does the chandelier!! Is there any way you could post a photo of the crystals you need and the size? I'm sure among us in Adamtopia-land could find one or more in our local areas. Clever idea to make diagrams that showed you how to put it back together. Knowing how meticulous you are, I'm delighted that a long-time fan and Atop member has it in her home! You all look fabulous. Thanks for sharing.

Do we know if it was Adam who suggested Ivy Levan to the Rocky Horror production? Not as far as we know. But I've always thought he might have had a hand in her being cast.  And she is very awesome, so that is a great thing too |

In regard to Neil and the F-1 noise, on NPR today, the BBC news reader described a new international drone "race." It's to be in October. The drones have to go through what sounds like an obstacle course as fast as they can. Kid they interviewed says his drone goes 160km/hr., and all you could hear was a whine. So to end the story, the reader said, "Well, it's not like it will be mistaken for Formula 1 cars, is it?"

I am still in mourning for Adam beautiful hair, I am having hard time dealing with his "flavor of the month" hair thingy! It is more like new hair every week. But seriously, part of the essence of Adam is that he is constantly changing and evolving yet retains his core. It is one of the things that makes him interesting to follow. If changing hair is an issue for you, you probably need to reconsider because he will continue to change and push boundaries and make unexpected choices. Do we know if it was Adam who suggested Ivy Levan to the Rocky Horror production? He might have suggested her, but the casting director knew Ivy before RHP was started so not likely the reason she was cast. |
