I bet you he is happy for bananas in Singapore, I didn't know they don't have bananas in Tel Aviv. They have bananas in Tel Aviv. Bananas have been growing in Israel since at least the 16th century -- and they are available 10 months of the year. Israel does not import very much food and is 95% food self-sufficient. So it is really hard to find the "standard" yellow banana that are commonly grown in Central America and Africa (Cavendish) for export. 95% of the bananas sold in the US are Cavendish. <I despise bananas and would love to go to a banana-free country but I think that would have to be North Korea or Antarctica. Neither are appealing to me. Bananas seems to be available almost everywhere.> I was able to easily find photos of bananas for sale in Tel Aviv.
