Adam says he never took dance lessons, but that picture above looks pure ballet pose to me from the tip of his fingers, down. Terrance would be proud. I think Adam plays down his dance experience. He performed in musicals for years, and he had plenty of dancing to do in those productions. Watching his performance in Wicked you can tell he had some sort of dance training, even if it wasn't in the form of years of formal lessons. Totally agree. I recall Adam saying he wanted to be the best in his children's theater group, whether singing, dancing, acting, stage design etc. Those skills were started at an early age. They had "dance" as part of that theater group activity and I bet he was practicing at home ...dancing around his house in costume!! (well that might be a stretch ...but maybe not! ).
Some schools/school productions make use of choreographers or if lucky the dance teacher. Combining all that with choreography in musicals would give him a rudimentary base in dance.
In the Lay Me Down choreo in the TOH tour...I often felt his hip and leg movements (swagger) outshone one of the back up dancers in that particular part. I love that trio of songs;the dancing gave it punch. When Adam was rehearsing for the AI tour, there was a pic of him practicing, and somehow there was a comment he had to repeat it many times to get it right for himself. (the muscle memory learning part) Skilled dancers can pick up moves more intuitively...a knack just like he has in his vocal ability. I am just glad he has a limber body, adjusts moves to what works for his body, and the confidence to give the audience movements like "the Tina Turner". haha His performance then becomes "a performance".edit add: Great find adamrocks Adam's the Phoenix Freddie drew on the crest. He gave Queen a second wave of life! So True!!! Truly an insightful reflection. brilliant

Born This Way, the show where Rachel was invited by Adam to his Morongo Casino concert in July 2015, just won the Emmy for best unstructured reality program. Here's the video of their meeting. What a great thing to see her dream come true. Anyone watching the Emmys tonight?

JMHO but I think Adam sees it as this: He didn't take dance lessons or acting lessons in the way that he took voice lessons.
