It makes me feel strangely secure to see him surrounded by those human redwoods. (Those are some BIG DUDES.) Sad that in this world he needs to be, but he seems to take it in stride.
And of course, he looks like such a STAH!!

NoAngel, as usual great post. I am an example of part of it. A friend stopped by this morning and made me promise (I had my fingers crossed behind my back) that I would meet her and another girl for lunch after church. Initially, I had offered to go because she needed a ride to drop her car off to get fixed and since it is 20 miles away, I said I'd take her and she suggested lunch and a little roaming around. When I found out this morning that one of her other friends was going to church with her, wanted to take her to drop the car and eat at a PFChangs close to the dealership, I tried to get out of it. She wouldn't let me, so I waited until I knew they were in church and texted her that I wasn't going. Church is half way, so no way they would drive back and drag me out. Church should be getting out right about now.
The bottom line is, I'd rather spend the day here, there, and anywhere there is some Adam info. I definitely went, maybe still going through, through the denial stage. I don't do anger or depression, not in my personality, anger only if FURIOUS about something, then it's a scary minute or two then return to sanity. And we're not talking guns, knives, or physical violence here, just head exploding fury which I keep to myself unless it will do any good to unleash my rapier tongue on the offender, a la Aaron Hicklin.
Bargaining? I know where I stand in the Adam food chain so have accepted no one will step in on my behalf.
Acceptance is where I've been for a while. Maybe it's because I love my private time, even though I'm an A personality and normally very social (pre-Adam), and I understand after a presssure-filled, busy week the luxury of a totally empty schedule. It is renewing to feel you are the only person in the world outside of your significant other, who, if you've chosen wisely, is an extension of yourself.
I was lectured once on PF that we are not robots and shouldn't accept and celebrate everything Adam does as if we were cult members. I agree, but when it is something like taking time for yourself in the midst of mayhem, I don't think we have the right to second guess his decisions. If that makes me sound like a sychophant, so be it.
