Hey Jessie!

An excellent answer and a bit of insight about Queen + Adam Lambert
I found the Q&A on Quora. It is from 2015. The question appears to be from a Marc Martel fan who did not realize that Marc Martel never actually sang with Queen but was part of their tribute show – Queen Extravaganza. Queen Extravaganza with Marc Martel on lead vocals did perform with Brian May and Roger Taylor on American Idol when they kicked off the 2012 Queen Extravaganza North American Tour. (Search YouTube for this performance of STL, it does not hold a candle to Adam’s version IMO.)
In any case, the answer struck me as very interesting because of the comment about Brian May preferring to perform with someone who was not too much like Freddie. I honestly never thought about it in this way.
A moderator request: Let’s not get into an extensive Adam vs. Marc discussion. Please leave that for the Queenies.
Why didn't Queen tour (more) with Marc Martel?
You may recall the tour / event that Queen did a while back called the "Queen Extravaganza" which featured an extremely talented singer, Marc Martel. Having seen how much he can match Freddie Mercury (check this out):

I am confused as to why Brian and Roger didn't tour with him instead of Adam Lambert. Was this really a choice of sex appeal over talent?

Just speaking as a lover of the music... I've been paying attention to the band's interviews and it seems very important to them that they're not just fronting the band with a Freddie Mercury imitator, but an artist in his own right, with his own style and ideas. They seem very happy with Adam Lambert. (Marc Martel is much more than just a "Freddie Mercury" imitator; he is an artist in his own right, but his role when doing a Queen song is only "sounding like Freddie Mercury.")
It's important also to remember that the remaining members of the band are human. It might be very, very hard to play with someone who sounds so almost exactly like your deceased close friend. On the tour, Brian May teared up watching a video of Freddie used to close out one of the songs. I wouldn't want their possibly last tour to be grief-ridden for them. It's probably hard enough performing the old songs as it is.
Then there's the personality mesh. Personality-wise, the flamboyant Lambert's personality is more like Freddie's personality. Marc Martel is a devout Christian and a member of a Christian rock band called Downhere, a band that's been together since 1999. It's very possible that Marc Martel, Brian May and Roger Taylor wouldn't share the same musical goals. Queen's a fantastic band but performing thirty and forty year old material rather than writing new stuff may not be everyone's dream job, especially in Marc's case where he wants to be writing new Christian stuff.
I wish them all the best. I sort of hold out hope that Queen might make Lambert a member, so that they might make one more album with new material. May and Taylor were (and are) terrific composers and it would be great if they could work together with Lambert to make one more barn-burner of an album.
EDIT: By the way, thank you for that video of Marc performing Bohemian Rhapsody. It was great.
