Here's the thing...after his latest interview, all I feel about Adam 2 is pure anticipation! Will it have songs that do well on radio? Will it sell as much as his label expects from him?
I hope so, for Adam's sake, but for my own personal sake, all I know is that I will LOVE this CD, partly because, by his own admission, Adam is sharing himself with us in it; he is putting himself out there writing lyrics that let us in, that will make us know him better. And he is fascinating, so I will be fascinated by what he reveals. As it is, some of us, (okay, I plead guilty on occasion,) dissect his every random
tweet. Soon we will have the dialogue of a whole album to pour over and relish.
And he chooses to let us know he is writing from a
real place. Remember when Paula called him the bravest contestant to ever grace the AI stage? (I used to think Paula
was merely loveably whack, but re-watching AI, I have to say, she really nails the way I
often feel about Adam, LOL.)
No matter what our reputation might be to some people out there, as a fandom, we have
done some things right. In an interview pre FYE, I remember Adam expressing the hope that his fans would like the album. Two years later, he does not feel stressed about whether or not
fans will like Adam 2. He has met us; he knows us. He has seen our
passion and love at work, supporting his projects and his concerts. He knows we are in his corner. And that can only foster his confidence and determination to "stretch his wings a little" and make an album he likes and chooses.
I will love this album because he will be singing the song of himself, and the idea of that is music to my ears.
Thanks,
NoAngel, for your kind words. Another great Sunday essay!
And yay! That stewardess responded to me, giving out the kinds of details that make me
smile like
Cassie!
