Hm, so anybody wanna make a bet on whether Pharaoh gets to sleep on the bed?
Yeah, me neither lol.
Before we got Jack, we had said no dog on the bed....ever.
After Jack, he slept cuddled up to hubby every night (I'm too restless for that). Now that Jack is almost 10, he prefers to sleep in his doggie nest because it's getting more difficult to jump up on the bed and hubby actually pouted the first time the dog chose to sleep in his own bed.
I have a rescue dog also. Poor thing was beaten. His nose has a scar. Really sad shape when we got him. We have him 8 years. We think he might be 9 or 10. No one knew for sure his proper age.
The first time I took him outside on the deck, I started to sweep it with a broom. The dog freaked the hell out. We assume that he was beaten with a broom. We no longer had him around when anything needed to be swept. Totally high anxiety for him.
We have no problem with him in bed. He is like a little heater and he sleeps angelically. But he is getting older too and he does have issues from the severe beatings. The steps help him out so much. Without them, he just can't navigate the bed anymore or the sofa. I like that the steps gives him his dignity and he just climbs them like a pro.
He also came with a weird name. There was no way we would call him that. So we started the new name straight away when we picked him up. He adjusted in a flash. It was like the other name never existed.
He is a sweetheart of a dog. We have given him a wonderful life, as he has given to us in return. He has maintained his 20lb perfect weight. He was skeletal, and just generally a dog that looked like he wouldn't make it. It is rewarding everyday to see that sweet and happy face. He knows he is loved. He is all black, so we do him up in reds. Red collars, red leashes, red sweaters, red coat, red water and eating bowls. We also keep a very large crate in the living room corner for him, filled with a sheepskin floor and a red doggie bed. He likes to be in his dog cave sometimes at night too. The door to it is always open. He is never locked in there.
It is just the cutest thing to me to see Adam interact with Pharaoh. I find myself legit smiling when I watch the vid of him walking Pharaoh and saying "Pharaoh, hey, hey...HI" Melts my heart. And don't even get me started on Adam petting his head and ears. If you watch it a few times in a row, I swear you can feel your blood pressure stabilizing. lol
I'm looking forward to so many pics of Pharaoh. I think that Adam won't be able to help himself. lol
