Graciejane.....Super Ninja...confirmed! :D (never any doubt in my mind) Wonder why the landlord wanted Max gone....he caused problems or complaints or the owner wasn't supposed to have a dog in that apartment per the rules. Wonder if that was indeed the reason. He looked kinda thin in those Nov pics. Kinda sad whatever the reason. But that could be said of all rescue animals. BUT.....that was then and look at him now! Not knowing about dogs, but looking at his short legs and the chihuahua mix....would it be a struggle for him to run the trails at Runyon? Seems like that would be quite a challenge. Maybe Adam is taking it slow and easy. lol I feel confident Max will get his Golden Ticket to Hollywood! ETA: They seemed to really emphasize he does well with children.....so he and Riff should hit it off. Basenji's have long legs though and the pet finders site said Basenji mix, which IMO is 100% correct. Max = Chihuahua/Basenji. Also, there are two types of Chihuahuas (besides long & short haired!) One is apple/dome head, which Max is not. The other is deer head. This explains the difference and shows why the Basenji and deer head mix is just perfect! Adam found his "deer like" dog! www.chihuahuawardrobe.com/deer-head-vs-apple-head-chihuahua-whats-the-difference/

Probably safe to say that Max's trial period was a success! (Congrats, graciejane, on finding Max! Amazing Ninjaing!)

ETA: They seemed to really emphasize he does well with children.....so he and Riff should hit it off. Have to wonder about the circumstances that kept him from being adopted for a couple of months. Who knows the real reasons he was surrendered... But if he loves dogs, cats, and children, that's a good sign! My son's rescue Jack Russell, now 12 years old, was about 16 lbs in her prime and not only could keep up with everyone but would pretty much lead the way. Pharaoh's legs aren't short in relation to his body, so he can probably move pretty well. I hope he'll settle in and have a great life with Adam! But if for some reason it doesn't work out I sure hope the fans won't judge Adam for it. Our son's dog, who he loves, has had health (allergies and seizures) and behavior (animal-aggressive, house-soiling, etc.) I issues that have cost thousands over the years, but he has stuck with her. His second rescue JRT, who didn't have health or aggression issues but had plenty of other problems that needed more attention than son could give him, ended up re-homed again and ended up doing very well. So, just a long-winded way of saying that you never know what you're going to get when you adopt a pet, and sometimes the fit isn't right. All that said, it appears that Adam probably has his mind made up, otherwise he likely would have been quiet about Pharaoh until things were certain.

Aw, I hope Pharaoh works out for Adam...the 7 day audition period of good. Like I said in another thread, it took about 3 weeks for our Jack's true personality to come out, lol, and it wasn't good. It's been thousands and thousands of dollars for us, too, as he has epilepsy (a Jack Russell trait apparently), and had behavioral issues but we've had him for almost 8 years and hubby wouldn't want it any other way. Even though dogs are remarkably adaptable, it is a bit of a shock for them to get moved from one place to another...it affects them emotionally. But as my DH would say, this one landed on all four paws.
Our Jack looks almost exactly like Pharaoh, except he's tri-colored. Same ears, same nose, same size. Ours is a Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix, and hubby's best friend.
Me, I think I'm more of a cat person...but severely allergic, dang it.

I was just thinking that being a kind of small dog with kinda of short legs might be hard on the dog to run those steep slopes on Runyon to keep up with Adam and his long legs and strides. But, like I said I don't know about exercising dogs. Pharaoh might run circles around Adam....lol. Plus, he doesn't always have to take him along everywhere he goes.....lol. Like with everything he does, Adam goes all in with a focus and a passion. I imagine after this initial phase of adjustment...for both....they'll find their groove.

Bama, my guess would be that Pharaoh would have no issues keeping up. His body type is definitely more Basenji than Chihuahua. Though size wouldn't really matter. A neighbour of ours used to have a Dachshund that could retrieve at break neck speed, right along side her Golden, for hours. Basenjis are a very athletic, high energy breed. Eg....
